August 28, 20205 yr Finally I caved and tried out a new aircraft! Bout time, right? My last flight ended at KISM near Disney World. While I was at work the last two days I decided I would try taking off from the water (can't remember the airport, was listed as private) and fly to Boca Raton (KBCT). So last night I picked the only natural choice, the Icon A5. This is a pretty slick looking aircraft, the dash reminded me more of a car than a plane and the model looked great as well. The airport I chose looked like it was in the water, however when I loaded in I found myself on land just outside of where it looked like I would start. Was a little disappointed but shrugged it off and started the flight anyway. I was really shocked when I finally got airborne. This little sucker was all over the place, the wing would dip left, then right, could not keep it level. Didn't have trim for yaw or rudder set on my controller and was just to tired to look it up, so I hand corrected the entire flight. I was able to trim pitch and my altitude settled in nicely so it wasn't to bad. Just felt like I was a kite getting tossed around. I believe the winds were at 10 but I honestly don't remember. Which would explain the issue (or my joystick needs re-calibration one of the two). I took off at dusk and was able to watch as the sky turned to a vibrant crimson with the blue of night settling to the east, the stars popped out and the city lights created a really magical view. Last night showed me its a good time to be a flight simmer. I am curious however. Is the Icon easily tossed around like that? I could get used to flying that a bit more if I can get a handle on its controls. Anyway, that's my report! Hope everyone is having fun while we wait for the patches to start rolling in.

I get the same thing happening for me too, but it’s not every time, Sometimes I take off and it’s a nice transition, sometimes the wings drop from left to right until I get to a certain altitude...It definelty doesn’t feel normal, some dipping of the wing is normal, but it’s a little excessive when it does happen in msfs 2020. I try to stick with the cessna’s as it they seem to be the most stable for me in its current state. August 28, 20205 yr I have spent over 5 hours in the Icon A5 and it is as solid as a rock...very predictable for me. My pitch / roll sensitivity is at -65...yaw at -70. I am able to bring this bird at near stall speeds for the awesome landing a TFFJ...a tad bit unsettled when coming over the small mountain peak at runway 10 due to wind..as I get that with other planes at that same spot...but easy to control and plant a landing.
August 28, 20205 yr I have had no problem with flying the Icon either. It is very stable and easy to fly. Martin Sims: MSFS 2020, MSFS 2024 and X-plane 11 Home Airport: CYCW - Chilliwack, BC Canada i5 13600KF 32GB DDR4 3600 RAM, RTX3080TI Meta Quest 3
August 29, 20205 yr Author Thanks for all the replies. I see that the handling is probably just me and only flying the C152 and 172. I'm branching out though so I should get a handle on them soon.
