If you haven't broken out on top yet......

Featured Replies

I just had yet another "I can't believe what I just experienced" moments in this sim.

If you have not done so yet, just set the weather to Overcast, and I suggest the TBM to get the added joy of not only breaking out on top, but watch as the ice boots do their job!

I was awe-struck.

Check out the pics in this post here:

This is one of those "Must-do's" in this sim IMO.  Just amazed.

Animated ice boots??  That really is pretty amazing.

I notice the effects folder contains a file called fx_ASOBO_DeIce_Blast.fx.  Makes me wonder what other effects are in there that we haven't seen yet.

Who said there were no Easter eggs? 😄

Oh! I have slipped the surly bonds of Earth
And danced the skies on laughter-silvered wings;

Amazing!  I thought it was a joke at first. 👍

Rob (but call me Bob or Rob, I don't mind).

I like to trick airline passengers into thinking I have my own swimming pool in my back yard by painting a large blue rectangle on my patio.

Intel 14900K in a Z790 motherboard with water cooling, RTX 4080, 32 GB 6000 CL30 DDR5 RAM, W11 and MSFS on Samsung 980 Pro NVME SSD's.  Core Isolation Off, Game Mode Off.

Even just the icing buildup, to have that  happen now makes it that much more immersive and adds to the challenges of GA flying, one issue I had in all other sims was the lack of ice buildup (Yes I know some models did have some form of representation of ice, but nothing like this)

I planned a flight yesterday, took off from Duluth in my “brand new” purchased cirrus (one can dream, right?) to fly her home, some 600nm trip, I was planning on doing it in multiple legs of maybe 100-150 mile legs as I was never one to fly GA long distances in any previous sim. flight started out nice and clear but as I got further along the clouds and weather started deteriorating. I climbed higher to get over the tops. I was away for about 5 minutes and when I came back I was in the thick of it, iced up like I’ve never seen before in any other sim..I couldn’t keep my altitude so descended into warmer air mass and eventually shed the ice. Climbed back up between 2 layers of clouds, this time with anti ice on, with a few glimpse of the ground, sun making its way to the ground through a few holes in the clouds, all flying was using charts flying airways from VOR to VOR..Like you it was one of those moments in awe. I have my gripes with the sim, but the good far outweighs the bad for me when it comes to msfs.

BTW, I flew the full flight, some 4hours of GA flying With one stop along the way for fuel, then the final stretch home. I could never immerse myself enough in the past to fly that distance at those slower speeds in GA. All Thanks to the “Awe“ moments I continuously got from that one flight alone along the way.

You've pretty much captured what I've been trying to convey all along.

The app does have issues....and nobody is disputing that or trying to minimize it due to overwhelmingly stunning visuals, but for me.....the pure enjoyment so far has been something that's enjoyable to share with this community.

I hope more will post shots and stories of their "Awe-inspiring" moments in the sim, I enjoy reading them.

Your 4 hours of simming, that which you never felt motivated to do in past sims, speaks volumes of how this sim can captivate you, if you let it. 🙂

Yeah....blew me away (pun intended as the boots of course force the airflow to "blow" the ice off the wings by cracking it up and letting the airflow get under it and do the rest).

I think there may be many Easter eggs yet to find....or will be injected in the future.   I remember in previous versions...you could actually set the date back to certain events and see some....like dates volcano's blew their tops, or July 4th here in the US (many cities had fireworks, etc)

I did a double-take the 1st time when I just caught the boots at the last millisecond of their deflation,  saying "Did I just imagine that?"....of course until they cycled again. 🙂
