FS Labs Concorde "Unpaused"

This is all moot anyway as FSL 64-bit Concorde will be for P3D. Whether they ever create a version for MFS who knows but from my conversations with Andrew Wilson at Cosford I suspect not.

@Ray Proudfoot this statement does not read like opinion be cause you say "will be".

Okay, I’ll qualify it. “In my personal opinion FSL 64-bit Concorde will be for P3D v5.”

How’s that?

Much better.  As a moderator I'm sure you will know that the way people type statements can lead to a lot of consternation.

This is fantastic news. I may have to get P3D v5 just to fly this Concorde. Hopefully this will come to MSFS once the sim matures and other developers invest. The market potential for MSFS is huge, even with a complex study level aircraft like this.

I haven't upgraded from FSX:SE as yet - new machine required for FS2020 and having enough fun for now without spending on P3D so I'm quietly waiting for the DC designs Concorde in full realisation that it's not study level as per FSL. It may still be OK for me

It's looking like that DC Concorde will on sale within the next two weeks. Apparently there will be an MSFS version to follow, with a discount for people who buy the ESP sim versions, so even if you are flying the new MSFS sim a lot, it will probably be worth having it for P3D, although perhaps not the bargain price BA paid for two of real things back in 1984 (£1 each in case you didn't know).

The strategic purchase of a new horse-riding hat for my Fifi as a gift today (those things are bloody expensive), means that a commensurate amount of cash will be available for the acquisition of Concorde. 🤣

There is a lot of debate about this account of the history.  Some managers involved with the fleet insist that although bought at a bargain price compared with the cost of development, BA did buy them for a reasonable sum.  Others go with the version you have stated.  Both schools of thought are from people who were there, and believe in what they know, so until BA release the apparently still "commercially sensitive" records we will never know the real truth.

I'm sure the DC Concorde will suite a number of people, and some might even buy it as a stop gap till the real one is released 😁

Apparently you will have to operate the fuel transfer etc on the DC version to be in with a shot at making it to Mach 2, so although it isn't an 'all systems' affair, it'll be fun to drive. And if anyone's had their F/A-18, they'll know that DC knows how to make a fun thing with a decent flight model, because they did have a genuine fighter jock help with creating that, and it shows.

Well, maybe they've been sensible and had some qualified real world advisers help them with Concorde, if not I don't see how it could be accurate.  Mind you, as most folk if not all who buy these addons (FSL included) have never flown the real thing, nobody would know if it is a doozy anyway!!

Anyway, better not drift off topic, as from what I've seen in other threads on this forum, unless you mention the original topic title in your reply you get taken out by the mod police! 🤣 I'm used to conversation being more free flowing...

@trumpetfrazz1 Don't worry, the mods are not the Victoria Police... Whilst it appears that the FSL Concorde should be THE study level product. There's nothing wrong IMO with an "experience" level product for the masses i.e. me with my FSX rig.. By "experience" I mean something more involving than those motion rides one sees (Typhoon or Red Arrows experience), with a nod towards the "numbers" in real life.

@HighBypass from what I've seen in other threads, [in my opinion...] the mods are very quick to pick up on slight drifts off topic which [for my way of thinking] is strange on a forum that people can start topics about random stuff... While there needs to be someone keeping an eye on things, you tend to find mods have their own interpretations of when to intervene.  I'm not complaining, just not what I'm used to elsewhere I guess so I'm a bit nervous of what I can say that links and what I can't...

Each to their own as I always say when it comes to simming and indeed this applied to Concorde for real - there were a lot of BA pilots that would never bid to fly her because they knew it was a lot of work and for a limited route structure.  They earned less money on Concorde too because of lack of allowances and various other things.

In my view a good study level sim should have ways to mitigate the learning curve for those who want a jump in and fly experience, and nowadays there should be no limit to this.  The current FSL Concorde has a basic "virtual flight engineer" to take care of some of the functions and I would have thought this could have been extended.

This forum (Hangar Chat) is more free-form than our other, more focused forums, so there's a lot more relaxed attitude regarding moderation. In general there are only a few forbidden topics, such as sex, crime, politics and religion. 😏

Oh I'm not debating that it is a very open forum, it's more when a thread apparently drifts off topic as conversations do in life and a mod decides it has... Anyway, it's more that I'm never sure where the line is rather than complaining about it.
