Worked fine all day yesterday nothing but CTD's today?

Featured Replies

Anyone else get this?  Yesterday I launched and played FS2020 all day and even got in and made some minor tweaks and stuff without issue.  However today for some reason every time I launch FS2020 I get a CTD when loading after the "Press Any Button" screen!

This is not the 1st time this has happened.  I have good days when everything works without issue and then some days its a No Go all day.  Have had some days when it would not work in the morning and afternoon but come up on 5pm PST time and all of a sudden its working great again.  Some days are backwards and it works fine in the morning but later in the evening its a No Go!

I checked to see what resident programs are running in the background and it does not seem to matter whether a browser is open or not.  Checked Windows Defender and its been idle.  Only thing I can think of is perhaps the servers are overloaded and some sort of handshake between my computer and Microsoft is not working properly.

sounds like internet issues to me.

Whenever I have internet connection issues, MSFS 2020 gives me a pop-up to let me know.

were you trying to do something like convert a plane and had that plane loaded but then came out of MSFS and deleted the folder, so the game is preset to something that no longer exists?

That did happen to me and I have reported it to zendesk saying if something is missing on reload, it should pick up a default.

If so try recreating the folder.. same name same everything and see if it loads, otherwise you may be looking at a re-install.

No not really....tried several times earlier and could not get it going.  I would just get a CTD at random times during the start up.  It mostly happened just after the "Touch Any Key Screen" but occasionally when compiling a flight.

Ironically first time I got on this evening even after my wife had been doing video editing all day it fired right up and ran fine.  I am blaming it on a handshake issue when servers are busy but not really sure?  I boarder line antique computer might also be to blame.  Just funny how some days it runs just fine all day long and other days its nearly impossible.  Sunday morning seems to be particularly bad.

I had a few issues with mine today, But it was 117 in the shade today so, I figured that may have had a lot to do with it since nobody is really out and maybe a lot more than usual internet traffic?

the moment you say sunday mornings are bad, its clear what it the issue is.

internet issue, not at your side, probably provider, or just your neighbourhood everyone using the net, or provider maintenace,

maybe if you get  a faster subscription it might get better?

I have been struggling with this same problem since before the patch. The patch did not help me. The problem was fixed when I logged  into Xbox support and requested a live phone call.  They called me back and I was able to tell them the details of my attempts to get in.  Since the call I have been able to start up every time.

Same thing today.  At 5pm yesterday it launched first time and had a wonderful flight but then this morning nothing but CTD's.  I checked my internet connection and its active at 93 Mbps which is not half bad but this might only be part of the story?

Interesting but it would not hurt calling XBox support.  It feels like a handshake issue on their end!

I had the same issue. I dumped the ROLLINGCACHE.CCC file (AppData\Roaming) and restarted. That worked for me.

I tried this but unfortunately it did not work for me.

I think it's my barely in spec computer that is possibly part of the problem.  Just odd that occasionally it fires up and runs surprisingly great.

I was going to upgrade but I think I will still run into bottlenecks so now looking and building a new system.  Just waiting for a few more patches for the simulator and hopefully one up on hardware as a lot of the current available hardware is somewhat stagnant now.
