September 7, 20205 yr I looked forward to msfs, preordered and paid for it. When the big day arrived, the me web site would only allow me to download my purchase to my "C" drive. My C drive is solid state, relatively small, and very full. I spoke with Microsoft reps. My money was very promptly refunded. I ended up buying a competitive product. I would consider buying msgs again if I could install it on my 2 tb D drive. Does anyone know how. Jim Elder

Of course you can ( even if I'm not sure how this is related to P3D's PTA): https://www.thedigitalmediazone.com/2016/02/17/how-to-change-the-windows-store-download-location/ Edited September 7, 20205 yr by virtuali Umberto Colapicchioni http://www.fsdreamteam.com FSDT on Facebook
September 7, 20205 yr I agree - this topic needs to be moved!!! I can confirm virtuali's method works (for an MS Store purchase). I was in a similar situation myself, when I came to install it. I'm surprised (but not really) that the MS Reps couldn't advise you. I did get a bit of a fright, however, during the install - as it looked like it was installing to C drive/Users anyway. Don't worry - these are just temporary files and everything ends up in the right place on completion.
September 9, 20205 yr Moderator Actually, the small "launcher" is initially placed on the C drive by default. When you run the "launcher" to download the entire package, you are asked which drive you want it to be installed on. Fr. September 13, 20205 yr Author Many thanks for your replies. The discussion leaves me with one question: How small is the small "launcher"? If I remember correctly, the downloader wanted me to clear 130+ GB from My C drive.
September 13, 20205 yr Hi, I believe the launcher itself is some 500mb or less (so, relatively small, might even be 50mb, but I'm near sure it's not over 500), and goes into the usual application directories on your system drive (program files, appdata, etc.). When you run MSFS for the first time, it should ask for a download location for the content, which is the big one (100ish GB). That you can easily point to whatever drive/directory you prefer.
September 13, 20205 yr I think drives need to be formatted NTFS. My external is exFat and the MS Store doesn't let me use it. My guess is MS wants the security to lock down the install directory. Not 100% sure, but I can install my other games there no problem. ------------------------- Craig from KBUF
