September 25, 20205 yr Commercial Member Oh boy... I really tried... I wanted to upload my apparently popular Toronto Area scenery to the AVSIM library. I really really tried... I registered a separate account for the library (why separate from the forum?), I suffered through the horribly outdated interface, I overcompressed images because the library wouldn't accept image files over 200kb in size (duh!), I shortened my description and info because the interface would mash all text together without any linebreaks or paragraphs or any formatting at all (ouch!), and then after filling everything in - the max file size allwoed is only 500Mb !!! This is a joke, clearly, as many decent MSFS scenery addons (and for other sims too) are larger. Mine is just under 900Mb, but many others are over a gigabyte in size, easy. The library is just unusable at this state. It's stuck in 1996, evidently. If it's fixed - I will upload there. But most people would just give up. Compared with flightsim.to and Vortex mods websites, with their large file size limits, drag-and-drop interfaces, rich text editors, easy graphical real-time searches, ratings, comment system, messages, rolling image galleries - this library is stuck in a different era apparently. I am a web designer/developer by the way, I know what I am talking about 🙂 Looking at this thread, people even have problem seeing any files at all, let alone searching and browsing... Oh, well...
