September 12, 20205 yr For the life of me I can't figure out how to disable that option. My sim looks pale and the colours are washed out and overly bright with very little depth or vibrancy. This can definitely be attributed to HDR - I have a similar experience with p3d. In the latter though, HDR can be either tuned or disabled altogether - something I can't accomplish with FS2020. In the sim, this option is grayed out at the "on" state. Disabling by manually editing the options file is also futile as it resets to active once the sim is launched. I windows 10 control panel the option doesn't even exist (set to off - unavailable). So, any idea as to how do I go about disabling HDR? my world is bland and ugly.
September 12, 20205 yr Is this guy with this mod, it did help on my end. https://forums.flightsimulator.com/t/fix-pixelated-clouds-and-shimmering/260199 CnR6005 1 5d For some reason Asobo decided to force the post processing effects on by default and no way to turn each effect off in the games graphics settings. So you have to do this yourself. NOTE: These post processing effects are purely personal preference and you can disable or enable them as you wish. Navigate to this directory, I installed the game on a different drive but the user configs defaulted to this place for me. C:\Users\yourname\AppData\Local\Packages\Microsoft.FlightSimulator_8wekyb3d8bbwe\LocalCache Now find the file “UserCfg.opt” and open it with notepad or notepad++, I prefer notepad++. Scroll all the way down the bottom of the file and you will see the “PostProcess” section. NOTE: Entering a “0” means it is disabled, a “1” means its enabled Disable Sharpen, Fringe(Chromatic Aberration), FilmGrain, and Vignette. Just click save and you are all set. The game will not reset this file when you launch it. It will only reset if you change a bunch of your in game graphics settings. If the game is too “blurry” for you start messing around with the NVIDIA freestyle filters or the image sharpening setting in the NVCP. 747 Captain for the last 39 years, and still learning.

Im having the same problem, Mine is now grayed out with the on state. never use to be like this, if you open the UserCfg.opt you can try and disable it, its at the top of the line under video. I've tried setting mine to 0 but that has no affect and im not sure why regards Joshua {Video Adapter "AMD Radeon RX 5700 XT" Monitor 0 Windowed 1 FullscreenBorderless 1 Resolution 2560 1440 FullScreenResolution 2560 1440 PrimaryScaling 1.000000 SecondaryScaling 1.000000 VSync 0 HDR10 0 PosX 1 PosY 0
September 12, 20205 yr I have now found out that this is caused by disabling HDR10 in windows 10 if you enable HDR10 in windows you can then turn it off in game. Hope this helps Regards Joshua
September 12, 20205 yr I think your monitor has to be HDR10 compliant for you to be able to first change that setting in Windows and then in game. Mine isnt HDR10 I guess because I cant even turn it on in Windows. But I wouldnt call the image washed out. The haze and global cloud lighting/coloring could use some work imo. Is the image washed out when using the Clear Sky weather preset AND when viewed from outside the cockpit? Edited September 12, 20205 yr by sightseer | Dave | I've been around for most of my life. September 12, 20205 yr I have found that increasing "Digital Vibrance" in the nVidia control panel makes a world of difference, the sim looks incredible now. \Robert Hamlich/
September 12, 20205 yr Author @Joshua Hedges Setting HDR10 to 0 is useless as it will reset to 1 once you launch the sim as I have pointed out in the first post. As @sightseer mentioned, not all monitors have an HDR option to begin with. My 2k Dell U2518D apparently doesn't.... @killthespam I already tried disabling sharpen, didn't notice a huge difference. will try to fiddle with the rest. For my part, its the strong white overtone that dominates the colour gamut which gives the impression of an external camera with an exaggerated exposure setting rather than the way one would view the world through ones own eyes. @HUSSAR Is it possible to associate a vibrance setting with an application rather than set it globally? thanks //Mike
