September 20, 20205 yr MSFS is the shiny new toy, however the wheels fell off it a bit with the second patch. As others have noted, you can make a 3D model which will serve for more than one sim, but because of that it is easier for a lot of developers to parcel up their existing product for the new sim, and so inevitably that will attract more comments on a forum as those become available. But it will be a very long time before there is anywhere near the variety of decent aeroplanes for MSFS that there currently is for P3D, or FSX or FS2004 for that matter. Having said that, there are some interesting things en-route to MSFS, most notably for me, a Boeing 247, but it's currently FSX if you want a DC-2 and P3D or FSX if you want a DC-3, so they'll be on my HD for a long time yet. Not forgetting DCS for a bit of combat action, or First Eagles for some WW1 stuff, or Condor for some gliding. As ever, there's nothing to stop us from playing with more than one sim. Perhaps it's because P3D, especially 4.5 HF3 is working reasonably well for most users, and they can enjoy a reliable simulator experience. Bingo--been flying for months without searching the forums for solutions to problems.. Finally getting the time to actually learn aircraft systems, rather than computer systems. Forever indebted to the late Michael Greenblatt of FSGS.
September 21, 20205 yr It's true developers will go where the money is but for the time being mine is staying in P3DV5. They abandon that , they abandon my business. Maybe for the best as I can certainly direct the funds elsewhere. Vic green

I loaded the weather on ActiveSky, planned the flight on PFPX, pulled the flight docs together in Navigraph Charts, loaded the jet in P3Dv5, and watched GSX board me up while I did the preflight. Flew the leg using Radar Contact v4 for ATC, hand-flew the arc-to-final ILS 11 at PAYA, blocked in with the GSX marshaller, and let GSX push up the stairs and baggage loaders and deboard me. It all went flawlessly. No wrassling a schizophrenic bucking bronco trying to fly the 737, and no wondering, when I gave it to George at cruise, whether or not the A/P would try to roll inverted and pull when I pressed "CMD". The snow-capped Orbx Southern Alaska scenery was, well, scenic. I'm not a screenshot guy, so like the majority of my flights, there was no need to mention yet another idyllic, hassle-free flight--my 11th in the last week, all on P3Dv4 and v5. I spent most of my forum time today on the MSFS forums trying to help other people tame the beast. My post count in the forums has nothing to do with how I spend my time simming at the moment. I don't have to wage Jihad just to get a P3D plane into the air, so there's not as much to write about.
