My download problem solved

Just wondering.  I have not had download speeds that slow since the late 1990's.

My question was a WOW for the cost increment for that miniscule jump in speed relative to todays tech.  Must be a small private provider with a protected area.  Sad.  My Dad in Western North Carolina suffered with that for years before a buyout of his local provider.

Well, I'm just an old country boy. No gripes here. "They" have recently laid optic cable to my front yard, just have to wait until it's hooked into the main line.

*just to note - Current provider is a wi-fi provider. I am a bit in the sticks. I do have Dish TV hook up and did use their internet provision until I decided that I'd rather have unlimited data as opposed to High dollar 10 gigs per month data. I did have to ditch online play, but trade off in savings was worth it at the time.

Minco area?  I lived for four years in Weatherford west in Custer Co.  And later 4 years in Tulsa, more accurately near Bixby.  I traveled all of western Oklahoma for those Weatherford years, ranging from Blackwell, to Muhall, Norman, Chickasha, and Lawton, and everything west of there through Altus to Hollis, north through Erick to Woodward, and back across through Alva to Enid and back to Blackwell.  All points in between.  Enjoy flying that area VFR over the ensuing years after I left Oklahoma.  I logged over 180 hours during those four years out of KOJA, Stafford field, outside Weatherford.  And when not flying my golf game on the adjacent golf course suffered from my attention to the occasional airport traffic.  Last visited Weatherford in 2010 on our retirement relocation trip from California to Maryland.  Made a special side trip to see the airport and golf course.  And of course had lunch at Braums.

Small world.  I need to do some VFR flying in that area in MFS 2020.  Nostalgia time...

Tuttle currently. Highschool in Newcastle. Always been in OK. about 8 years of time delivering down-hole oil pumps all over Ok, Tex, Ark, NM.

I have 90 minutes pilot time in a Piper Warrior - no landing though, just approach down to about 150 feet. That was KWPA to Weatherford.

I'd love to see Chaseplane get their hands in this sim. I hate learning new tricks.

My time there in W Okla was 1979 to 1982.  The John Deere dealers I managed in Norman and Chickasha were also both licensed pilots.  Actually, my dealer and his wife in Altus were also licensed and active.  My dealer in Weatherford, the late Paul Defehr,  was a WWII P51 ace but no longer flew when I was there.  Believe my dealer in Alva was also a pilot.

I thought things were going somewhat better, but I've been stuck on the fs-base-cgl-x.x.xx-fspackages-20 since this morning.  Gets so far and restarts the download.  It's started over at least 6 times that I know of and there's still over 30GiB left to download.

I've had about all of this process I can possibly stand.  I don't know what else I can do at this point...check that...I just installed ExpressVPN and connected via Washington DC and I'm getting much much better speeds.  Hopefully, after two weeks struggling with this, I'll be able to fly again.  Wish me luck!

I was correct in my previous post.  Downloading with VPN totally solved my issue.  It was ready to go when I woke up this morning.

and I thought my 35-40 mbps was slow.  It was going through a wireless extender so i fixed it and I got a 100ft cat6 cable and wired directly to the modem to get 100mbps.  In my experience the sim does run better the higher the download speed.

Kind regards,

Tim
