Honeycomb Yoke DOA and support wants a video!

Featured Replies

Honeycomb yoke arrived. Followed directions to connect ethernet and USB. Nothing no lights no connectivity and not showing in Windows. Not showing in MSFS either.

What in the world? Has anyone else had any issues or any idea why its not working?

Call tech support no answer. Email them and get response within a few hours wanting a video of nothing working?!:

Hello,

Thank you for contacting Honeycomb Aeronautical. We really apologize for this current issue. Would you mind sending us a quick video demonstrating this technical issue?

Thanks,

Ryan

Interesting.

I assume it is to confirm it is actually faulty and not some user error before getting you to freight it back - but what an odd way to do that.

Fair call easy to do

Ethernet whats that all about

There is a short ethernet cord that connects the yoke to its base

So supposed to take a video of it *not* working?!  Seriously? If it were exhibiting some strange behavior ok but it won't even light up or show up!?

Just whip out your cell phone  and take a video of your PC with you plugging the yoke into your pc. Show it isnt working (Nothing lights up and nothing is detected in windows. Then take a different device and plug it into the same port and show that windows detected it. I really don't think its an unusual technical request.

Im not saying your stupid but as an IT admin at my company i have literally lost my temper at people doing stupid stuff with electronic equipment then they call me and waste my time when i asked them hey did you do X and they say no but when i get to their desk they clearly didn't follow the simple instruction.

So just roll your eyes and humor them (Trust me as an end user i roll my eyes as well if i think the request is stupid or i have already tried the most obvious solution before. Its human nature)

They probably just need the proof so the rep can justify to his supervisor that the item is really damaged and they have to eat the shipping and replacement costs.

Cheers

One stupid question- are you sure that USB-C cable is seated tightly in the yoke's socket? That was exactly the problem I had once or twice with the yoke; the fit is quite tight in my case.

Noticed that as well. Tried re-seating it a few times to no avail. thanks!

If you are in that business would suggest you review their FB page. Multiple posts now saying they are overwhelmed and unable to provide customer service. Looks like they are actively looking for support people to fill positions.

As an update Ryan in support is great. They require a video for RMA evidently. The yoke is/was in_fact DOA after trying another USB cable. Major bummer since they don't have replacements available it sounds like. Further, new production will have updated connectors to remedy the loose cable connections they are aware of.
