October 29, 20205 yr In addition to the comments of Rob Ainscough, here are explanations to a few parameters: worley_noise controls the amount of worley noise applied to the clouds - worley noise gives the billowy cauliflower shapes found in cumulus clouds. worley_scale controls the scale of the worley noise, and decreasing it might help to make clouds more detailed. However, as it is really computationally expensive to generate worley noise real-time, they create a tiling noise texture once and use it afterwards. This means lower scales might cause more repeating. persistence controls how multiple octaves of noise are mixed together to create final cloud volume. Increasing it might result in higher detail and lowering it might result in more uniform shapes. octaves controls how many octaves of noise are mixed together to create final cloud volume. Increasing it (only use integers, not fractions) should greatly increase the detail, but it also increases the computational costs. edge_worley_noise (probably) controls how much worley noise is applied to the edge of the clouds, increasing it will most likely result in more billowy / cauliflower cloud shapes. Not sure about the rest - sadly there doesn't seem to be an option for increasing off-screen cloud resolution even more. PC specs: i5-12400F, RTX 3070 Ti and 32 GB of RAM. Simulators I'm using: X-Plane 12, Microsoft Flight Simulator (2020) and FlightGear.
October 29, 20205 yr I really wish I could contact LM and give more detailed feedback about the various trueSKY issues people are experiencing - I don't have any relationship with LM developers, unlike many other third party developers here like @Rob_Ainscough, so it might be a little bit harder for me to contact them. Also @simbol has probably a HOTline to them......And he is always helping us out here, kind and has a great ADDON delivered "more than in time" 😉 Maybe he can help you out.... Hi guys I am on a short break with family, happy to help when we are back, which is Sunday. I was playing with volumetric configurations to reduce the grids, but ran out of time.. Maybe we can find compromises until the next update from LM. Speak to all of you soon. S.
