Sudden FPS drop and 100% GPU since patch 5 in window mode

Featured Replies

Hello all,

I have a small issue that I have seen since patch 5, I have noticed that the FPS will drop after sometime arriving in a payware airport for from example from 40fps to 20fps and GPU utilization will be 100%. This does not happen if I start from the airport, it only happens upon arriving. The only way I can recover the fps is by resizing the MSFS window, for example making the window smaller and then bigger again in order to force the scene to be re-rendered. Has anybody noticed this before?

P/S: FXAA is off and my settings mostly from high to ultra with 100 render scale on 2k resolution.

Not so much on FPS drop but on GPU Util goes nuts around O'Hare if that is one of the airports you are seeing it at.  I have a fan ramp in my GPU Settings to ramp up with temp.... and when I just flew from Joilet to Ohare....the jet noises i was hearing were odd because I was in the Mooney...it was My Titan blower card's fan at 100% trying to blow out the fire the GPU was causing. 🤣

Not sure if it happening before, had not been there in a while so can't tell you if it was happening pre-patch.

Most likely LOD issue.  When you start at the airport, it preloads everything before you click "fly now".  But when you approach the airport it starts loading those objects in as you approach.  Just a theory.

Actually I have noticed it in some third party like LOWW and EKCH. If somehow makes puzzled what could be the cause though 😅

Aha this could be but then, I would expect man people to complain about it by now and I have noticed not so many reporting such issue, or I could be wrong?

I definitely experience the same problem..but independently by a payware add-on.

Sharp graphics on departure, blurred graphics on descent and approach...independently by the place or by the scenery

Seems to be something related to the LOD.

Pretty annoying on a 10700k, 32Gb Ram and ROG STRIX 2070S (and strong internet connection)

For me at the moment the biggest issue of MSFS, affecting the graphic experience during approach

I hope Asobo can improve in the coming updates

Yeah I just now tested, for example if I'd start at EDDF gate everything is all good, the moment I land at the airport, the fps drops drastically.

Same problem here after the last patch, after a while it goes to 20fps stable and stays there.
Another successful update from bugsobo.
