November 25, 20205 yr The shot is from post update, but it's been like this for me from the beginning. This is a screenshot of Portland, Oregon. It's near downtown. Now, a lot of the neighborhoods look pretty good... But holy crud. This can't be right, can it? I mean... It's wildly chunk and terrible. Again, right near downtown Portland, and the whole area looks like this. 1440 res, 1080ti, I7 7770 @ 4.8 16 gigs Ram, Settings are High and above. I'll screenshot a copy of my settings if that would help. EDIT: I was just thinking... When I first installed the sim at launch, I used the Manual Cache and downloaded the whole Portland area. Very high detail in the center/downtown/Airport areas, and less so going out. But I've since deleted that cache. Don't know if that could have caused an issue? Thanks a lot. November 25, 20205 yr I think this might be something to do with your internet speed. How fast is it and is it generally stable? WiFi or cable? Your sim is not getting sufficient data to render objects correctly. Just a guess, hope it helps. November 25, 20205 yr Author Thanks Raptyr but my internet is pretty fast. Its not screaming right along, but its pretty good. Between 550 and 750 mbps. That should do, ya? I mentioned in my edit that, when I installed at launch, I downloaded the area through my manual cache. Then I deleted it when I heard there may be issues with it. Could that be a problem? Anyone else have any ideas?
November 25, 20205 yr Yup it does look like the photogrammetry isn't fully resolving. Do you also have your rolling cache disabled? Have you checked your xbox networking services in the Win10 game settings? Edit - also check to see which server the sim defaulted you to. I had to manually select the closest with the lowest ping. Hey there. I have the Steam version if that makes a difference and I have turned off the rolling cache. Where do I find those options? Thanks very much. Edited November 25, 20205 yr by JughedJones
November 25, 20205 yr The xbox settings are under the Win10 Game Mode menu...not sure how much it affects a Steam install though...

November 25, 20205 yr Commercial Member Turn off photogrammetry. Fly for few minutes. Restart the sim and turn photogrammetry back on. Leave rolling cache off. Hope that helps. November 25, 20205 yr What I generally see is that the photogrammaty looks 'melted' ahead of me. If I look directly below/behind me it looks great. If I turn around and fly over an area again, it keeps looking great. Most of the screenshots MS uses to show off the sim are looking back at the aircraft. 'High-end' graphics presets and all data options turned on, with 200mbit internet. I do think they expanded the load distance a bit in update 7, I see 'melted' things further away now! Great.... I actually experimented once with flying around Tokyo with the photogrammatry turned off, vs turned on. The autogen buildings are not as nice as the fully-loaded-in photogrammatry, but they never look 'melted'. Something to consider. November 25, 20205 yr Author Lots of great suggestions here. Can't wait to try. Thanks a lot everyone!

I can't seem to see any icon/option on my system to allow me to make a selection (see pic below). Unless I'm looking in the wrong place, and that's what I'm hoping you can tell me, I'm assuming that maybe this is because I don't have a choice, based on my location as defined within Windows? Not a major issue, but I had a problem with the sim claiming I had insufficient bandwidth yesterday. It then went local on me. I investigated my network and broadband and it was all actually as normal so I'm assuming this was a temporary problem with MS's server. It was all ok when I tried again after half an hour of being tied up with my ISP running diagnostics, but then I discovered it had hosed many and various of my settings. Sigh. any advice appreciated, thanks Ryzen 9 7900X, Corsair H150 AIO cooler, 64 Gb DDR5, Asus X670E Hero m/b, 3090ti, 13Tb NVMe, 8Tb SSD, 16Tb HD, 55" Philips 4k HDR monitor, EVGA 1600w ps, all in Corsair 7000D airflow case. Hi Andy, you can try hitting the "Fix It" button and then "Check Again", and see if the NAT fixes itself to open or moderate. Sometimes it comes back as a false-positive too. And the spot you make the server selection is in the sim itself - right on the main menu hit the round icon One thing you may still want to look at with your ISP is you latency seems quite high...are you on satellite?
