A few ported-over aircraft, around KSLN

Featured Replies

Spent a day or two trying to port some of the hangar over. Getting maybe 10-15% success rate, had some really disappointing "almost works" examples (Staggerwing and YMF5 were both ones I really wanted to use, and came really close), but some of the ones that came across as usable are quite splendid. The B-58 even has working instruments.

First up, the Hercules.

Had to have several attempts at this, got one that is ok now once you get off the ground but that in itself is a challenge. The Mirage 2000 -

All this and there's more and more scenery coming out all the time too. Plenty of it freeware!

Ryzen 9 7900X, Corsair H150 AIO cooler, 64 Gb DDR5, Asus X670E Hero m/b, 3090ti, 13Tb NVMe, 8Tb SSD, 16Tb HD, 55" Philips 4k HDR monitor, EVGA 1600w ps, all in Corsair 7000D airflow case. Sims in use - 2020, 2024, XP-12 and -11, FSX/SE, P3Dv4.5 and v5.4. DCS and AFS2 installed but rarely used

Congratulations on your efforts. And I like that first Hercules shot a lot.

Ooooh the Valkyrie!  Now that musta been a site in the day....like a Hustler, only huge and white.  Such a sad ending for her 😞

But also sad were the days in that era when we thought we'd actually use them one day.  I'm sure glad the planet made it through that insane time of a few men with ego issues that could have ended the species. 😉

Cheers, John. I'm hoping a proper working copy of the Herc appears at some point. A fine airplane and fun to fly, excellent short-field capabilities.

Yep, that was all a bit of a disaster, the end of the Valkyrie. And like you say - scary times. Not sure things have changed a great deal, but at least now it seems to be cyber warfare we have to worry about rather than big bangs. Maybe. But we're never going to be free of men with ego issues. Seems to go with the territory, i.e. the kind of guys who get in to those positions will always have a tendency to that sort of behaviour. Now, if I were king . . . <grin>

Really cool, Andy and its a pity with the Alabeo planes. I too had them working with most of the gauges showing and actually working. Only a few textures were missing, which I think Carenado/Alabeo do on purpose, so you just don't port over planes from one sim to the other without having to buy them from them again. I now have both planes (and quite a few others) that I have bought first for FSX/P3D, then again for XP11 and I guess, one day again for MSFS. Oh well...

Any attempt to stretch fuel is guaranteed to increase headwinds

Nice Valkyrie!

I have the Virtavia example. It's been a while since I've done Mach 3 at almost 80000 feet.
