FlyTampa Amsterdam v1.3 + Orbx TE Netherlands

I did test it yesterday and performance on my system has become poor with the same settings as before in prepar3d v5. Maybe I checked other options in the configurator, don't know. I use about 6 GB VRAM of my 7.0 available VRAM. Textures are loading slowly and are changing when rotating views. I get a lot of stutters. As you can see I have an RTX2080 with 8GB. At the moment I don't want to buy a new GPU with more VRAM, if they are available at all.

I kept the old version in a directory and will go back, since I had fluent flight over Amsterdam before. I have bought TE Netherlands recently and this runs fine.

Dan

Dan,

Here the load is also heavier on both systems but you can make some changes in the comfigurator.

Grass can have a big performance impact when setting it to High. I checked the older version (kept it) and there I had it set to Low while it in the update was set to High.

And, if you have set them On you could set Sim Objects Cast Shadows to Off inside P3S.

Btw : FT advised to set Textures to 4096, but the maximum size of Textures I found is 2048.

Thanks for the tips Gerard. I thought about it, but it is faster to just go back than trying settings all day long. As you wrote, texture size is not extreme and my P3D5 is set  to 2048. I already spent a day to make it run with TE Netherlands and SamScene Amsterdam and then got this sluggish 3 fps always textures flipping scenery, while the old scenery with GSX was just fine. Every test needs a simstart and that takes its time. So rather go flying today.

It is just sad, Flytampa seems to think we all have 3090 GPUs with lots of memory. Actually I couldn´t even order it here, nor will I ever pay that much for a gpu.

Do not use traffic on the highways. Use grass set to Low or Off. Switch off apron traffic and apron static objects.

A few days ago I changed the 30 hertz to 25 hertz for my 4K displays. With the extra headroom I was able to use extra features + 60+ Live AI traffic.

Regarding SamScene Amsterdam : it is heavier on both my systems than TE NL only ....

I fly from Lelystad to Schiphol now and look how it performs. Yesterday I had a great view on the city of Amsterdam. SamScene performed well I think. The problems arose as Schiphol came into sight. LZZaZ5P.jpg

I only cheated with the weather. Also today nothing but fog.

I can run FlyTampa Amsterdam and ORBx TrueEarth Netherlands at a half decent framerate with 100% detailed AI traffic, maximum scenery complexity and autogen density settings, and 2048 textures in P3Dv4.5 HF2 on my i5 7600k @ 4.5Ghz/32GB DDR4-3600 RAM/6GB GTX 980Ti powered system @ 1080p resolution.

Do you have any hints what needs to be disabled in TE Netherlands, when using SamScene. I have some double buildings. Especially a stadion I see it´s double. Looks the same but is a little shifted between the two. Looks like NLD_Amsterdam_FH_PLC.BGL is the buildings in TE. But there are more, like ships, marinas. I try now, how it looks without Samscene.

P.S. Without Samscene, threre is still a double stadion and also some double buildings flickering.w3lxqjT.jpg

With 4.5 you have less VRAM problems but you miss the overall improved fluidity of the sim. But 4.5 with not too much sceneries loaded performs very well indeed.

SamScene was 2 years ago and I uninstalled it.

You have to look into the TE Netherlands custom / scenery folder and look for the objects. Sometimes they are there by name and the next time they are in a file with multiple objects. Then it might have the name of the town/city.

Thanks, will look into it. So far I found, in the old flytampa EHAM is a ams_landmarks.bgl. I guess this is to make approaches more interesting without TE Netherlands or SamScene.

I made now a special Simstarter Mod only Netherlands to start the sim hopefully much faster and compare SamScene with TE Netherlands Amsterdam.

I have followed your instructions and I still have the problem that the taxiways/runways are elevated compared to the surroundings. Anything I may have missed? I'm using Prepar3d V5 and I also have FTX Germany South/North and England installed.

Here the files you need to disable (extension OFF) or take them out of the Amsterdam Scenery folder like I did :

Gerard, your pictures explaining the installation are no longer visible.

You may have missed to remove the old Landclass entry of pre 1.3 EHAM. Otherwise I can only recommend to go trough all steps again. I have the same ORBX sceneries. They don't influence it.

Actually, I have reinstalled Windows a few weeks ago, so there should not be any residues of outdated EHAM versions on my system (also, there is no Amsterdam LC entry in my Scenery library). If I exclude the ORBX CVX and MESH folders, it works totally fine - but this may not be the best solution.

Do I have to exclude the EHAM-files in ORBX True Netherlands (EHAM_objects etc.)? When I disable them, I got the elevation problem, if I keep them enabled, the Flytampa runway textures disappear (probably into the ground).

Do I have to change the addon.xml of Flytampa Amsterdam, as GSalden did in his image?

You certainly have to disable some TE Netherland files.

Follow this procedure from Holger Sandman https://orbxsystems.com/forum/topic/153573-netherlands-trueearth-ft-eham/?tab=comments#comment-1353622

I'm not at my home pc now, so I can't help you which files etc. But if you follow the instructions exactly, it works fine.

I have doublechecked that I have followed Holger's instructions concerning the ORBX folder and GSalden's instructions concerning the Flytampa folder.

The files ADE_FTX_NLD_EHAM.bgl, ADE_FTX_NLD_EHAM_CVX.bgl and FTX_NLD_EHAM_objects are not mentioned in either tutorial, so I wondered whether it may help to deactivate them which I successfully did in FTX Germany.
