Just one tenth short....

Featured Replies

I started this activity around this same time of the year in 1983.  Am now only one tenth of an hour shy of 9,000 hours since I started logging my simulator flight time in 1987.  Now 1,662 hours logged with FSX, which I did not adopt until I built a new system in late 2010.  Have 92.8 hours logged in MSFS 2020.

My greatest number of hours were logged in subLogic's Flight Assignment: ATP during the 1990's.

My 337.1 hours logged in 2020 was my greatest yearly total since 1998, the year I first joined Avsim and transitioned to flying exclusively GA.

I can't think of the time of the year when I first started flying online... And I never logged anything... It's a dim past....

I only recall because FS 1.0 was a Christmas present from my wife.  We lived in Oklahoma but were spending the holidays with family in Florida.  Away from the computer....  I was lucky I did not receive speeding violations on the trip home, which was after a New Years Day football bowl game.

Having an involuntary calculation twitch when I see numbers like this, I am trying to figure out how a 10th short of 9,000 hours has greater significance than say, 20 minutes or 9,001 hours.

Another way of saying this might be: "I have spent all my waking hours over a period of 1 and a half years playing flight simulator games."

If one lives to age 80 with this statistic, it would amount to around 2% of your conscious life. Pah! To a dedicated simmer, this is nothing! 😁

It was the Barry Switzer era but I was not an Oklahoma U. football fan.  Just lived in the state for 7 1/2 years.  The bowl game was a Clemson game.  My dad and his two brothers all went there.  I am an Indiana Univ Hoosier.  More a basketball fan.

Wow that’s really impressive, I’ve always wished I kept track of all my hours over the years, I suspect I’d be somewhere in that range too but it’s pure speculation at this point.
