FSPlayground Yeah or Neah?

Recommended Posts

Anyone who here purchased FSPlayground, which brings a replay function to MSFS?

Only willing to part with my money, if it is any good, meaning frames, lag, UI etc.

I know there is a native version in the works from Asobo. I would prefer that, but I am missing the replay function every day....

Thanks for any input!

I bought it and to be honest, I'm not overly thrilled with it. Now to be fair, it isn't just a replay tool, it adds several other functions in addition to the replay capability, such as the ability to jump your location around and some force feedback stuff as well, not that I am especially interested in those functions, it was the replay capabilities I was interested in. It is a beta too at this stage, so its perhaps a little unfair of me to be completely critical of it at this point, as it might change and improve and it already has had a few updates and changes which streamlined the interface a bit. But I will say that the replay function is a bit clumsy from a GUI standpoint as of the moment. Nevertheless, it does work and will let you replay stuff, but it's hardly what I would call intuitive as I say, so be prepared to have to suss it out a bit if you do decide to go for it.

This video is before today's update.

I'm not regretting of buying it. The video is not mine btw but I do have similar results.

Testing the new version now and I will report here.

I bought Flight Control Replay while it was on sale in Simmarket, you get a free upgrade to 4.5, which is currently in closed Beta, it's meant to be released in late January or early February, it cannot come too soon.

Just in case you interesting..

Thank you! The video has stutters, don't know if it is the capturing, the sim itself or the replay mode. I would like to avoid frame rate loss at all cost. Thanks again!

This is always an apparent issue with the video recorders when you set the external view close to the aircraft. In P3D I suffered from the same stuttering with the replay using FCR (Flight Control Replay - which is under development for MSFS). The default P3D recorder/replay had the same problem and only used the replay mode for watching the aircraft during approach and landing from the Control Tower.

There is a Replay focused addon that is to come out soon So you may want to want to wait for it if your primary goal is replay.. I bought FSplayground cause the person who posted the news about the release had a headline that looked like the replay ( yet to be released was released) and I ended up buying the  FS Playground. Its ok.. It does replay stuff but it also does other things which I did not need but you may need it.  The replay add on yet to be released has a function which FS Playground does not have. That is, you could save your replay and then invoke it as an AI and fly with your recording (as an AI). Which is extremely useful for coordinated flying with yourself and for carrier landings flying coordinated flight with your prior flights. FS Playground has some functions for stick shaker? etc which I don't care for.

FS Playground does the function of 4 addons.. trying to be a  Jack of all trades but does not do each of the function very well. Yet quite adequate.

Thanks for everyone's input. I will hold off for now.

I wish add-ons like this would have a trial version available...

Hi Ed ,

FlightControlReplay for MsFs use a different method to play that avoid major stutter and jitter . I use a proprietary algorithm developed only for msfs . That will be bring also for p3d .

thanks
