December 7, 200619 yr Is there any way to get the atc window to close automatically after final transmission like it opens automatically?I thought it did so in FS9.Thanks,Ron Bring back Chief Illiniwek!University of Illinois.

December 7, 200619 yr Author I cannot asnwer your question but it is good to know that others are finding this annoying. Why the behaviour was changed from FS9 beats me, of course it could be an accidental by-product of the changes to the ATC window. One of the drawbacks of the new ATC window is the large minimum size it has on the screen and having it staring at you whilst your are trying to organise heading, altitude, procs and GPS changes at the same time is a real pain in my view. The FS9 behaviour, when the ATC window goes off screen until re-called after a message is answered, was much better. I also get the ATC window pop up every time just after every touch down (with just the ATIS option) and again when I am about to turn off the runway but before the go to Ground option is available.I have a suspicion that there won't be a quick fix to change these behaviours. December 7, 200619 yr Hi,I assigned a Yoke (FSUIPC registered) button to close the window.I assign the keyboard number 1 key so it would answer the ATC request to eg. turn right/left and then automatically close the window.A liitle easier than moving the mouse to point and click. It is not automatic .... next best that I have found. December 7, 200619 yr I'm the original poster and am glad to know I'm not the only one that thinks this is a real pain.I have it on yoke button but it is still very annoying. Bring back Chief Illiniwek!University of Illinois.

December 8, 200619 yr You guys know you can just whack the backquote button to open/close the window, right? The key just to the left of the 1 key on your keyboard.Neil

December 8, 200619 yr Author I think that there is some confusion setting in here. The complaint is that when you answer an ATC question in FSX the ATC window redraws itself without the question and stays on screen until you close it. In FS9 when you answer an ATC question the ATC window closed with no user input required until recalled with an "Open ATC window" keystroke. The new FSX behaviour does nothing positive and why should an ATC window pop up immediately after touchdown, whilst still on the runway, with only one option (to go to the ATIS frequency). A lot of good that will do after touchdown. This window also has to be manually closed. In my view the current FSX behaviour is unecessary and a backward step from FS9.John John Rig: Gigabyte B550 AORUS Master Motherboard, AMD Ryzen 7 3800XT CPU, 32GB DDR4 Ram, Gigabyte RTX 2070 Super Graphics, Samsung Odyssey wide view display (5120 x 1440 pixels) with VSYNC on.
