Orbx had a contract to adjust a bunch of the US airports for the US World Update, and their update to KLGB is totally incorrect.  Runways the wrong length, totally missing markings on one runway, terrible.  And Bing Maps had an awesome aerial view from 2020 they could have referenced to.  Takes all of 15 seconds to pull up.

So I can't say I'm impressed at this point.

No I believe he's still there as Head of Development or some other similar title.

Personally I have never bought an airport addon, only global or regional addons. For MSFS I have bought no scenery addons. The default is good enough and whatever else I need can be found in freeware. I  just don't spend a lot of time looking at airport car parks, seating within the terminal or roads. What I see from the cockpit is all I care about.

Maybe I'm getting this all wrong but Orbx is a sim payware company that is around for years and now works together with Asobo and MS on msfs2020

Why is it that the spikes and solid bridges are in the sim?

(to name just a few things that are broken)

I have flown into some MS2020 default airports and frankly they are missing a sense of being there - with generic bullrings and basic taxiways. If 3rd party developers can offer enhanced airports that give a feeling of being alive  - so there is a place for developers of big airports I feel - especially if they include surrounding areas....My local airport NZAA is very basic and just wrong in default mode for FS2020. There has been a local fix that improves things a little - but if Flightbeam or Orbx would do NZAA properly - i would certainly buy it

What I like about ORBX is that they add movement to an airport with people ectera.  Otherwise no matter how good the airport is it feels like the Twilight Zone.

I bought the Orbx Sydney City Scenery (scenery not the airport) as an Australia Day reduced price special because default Sydney is awful and even misses the bridge.  I had tried the freeware Google maps version of Sydney but my FPS dropped to well under 20 fps regardless of aircraft, it looked nice but was barely useable. The Orbx scenery seems quite good with minimal FPS issues.

That said, most of the time the default scenery is so good it is hard to justify paying more than a few bucks.  Scenery designers have a much higher bar to justify their money with MSFS.

My airport purchases tend to be very low price small airfields with quirky features. Things like this $US5.00 marketplace one with cows:
