February 4, 20215 yr Hi, Does anyone know if the next MSFS update will have a key to open the doors of smaller aircraft? I still don't understand why they removed the "E" key that opened the doors of all aircraft !!! thank you

February 4, 20215 yr Some of the payware addons like the Jabiru and The Mooney have animated doors but I do not think the any of the default aircraft doors are animated.

The default airliner doors are animated. You can control the operation of these in the ground handling phase of the sim when parked at the gate, if you have FS2Crew's Pushback Express. As far as I'm aware, the doors on the default planes are actually cut out and modeled as doors and could theoretically function in the sim, but the function is apparently disabled. This for me was one of the major disappointments with the Premium Deluxe version of the sim, because there was an F152A as part of that more expensive version, and one of the things which distinguishes the F152A from a regular Cessna 152, is the fact that on the real thing, you can remove the doors and even jettison them in flight. It's allegedly coming back as a feature at some point, and interestingly according to Lionheart's developer, part of the issue was related to click spots clashing with other stuff in the cockpit, although I don't know how true that is as far as reasons go. But it seems like a possibly plausible notion for the omission, because I can't really see any other reason why they would not put it in there. Either way, the keyboard assignment options could do with that function adding so we could at least open them with a key press on aeroplanes which do have the capability as far as animations and modeling goes. Currently, with the simple Local Variables door open/close animation works well. Edited February 4, 20215 yr by OSM
February 4, 20215 yr Commercial Member yup, everything is there to open/close doors, canopy, hatch, anything. it looks like they nearly implemented the doors, but backtracked last second. The TBM interior xml has everything setup for its doors to open, but they annotated it saying "the doors are not to be opened at this time". that xml is really great to have an inside look as they left a ton of annotations (most of them in french tho) Edited February 4, 20215 yr by leprechaunlive

Negative on the doors, most if not all models dont have separate objects labeled as doors, they are fused with the fuselage. and no animations either. as for Bill mentioning its an Asobos bug, you should translate it to "I'll do it later" lol. (he is actually, he got the code right for it, so should be in the next TB21 update)

Hi! leprechaunlive. 😃😃😃 Yes, I have a lot of fun developing this unique flying legend. Now with a suite of a modern freeware tools like Blender and ArmorPaint, and of course with the MSFS2020, it's a real pleasure to create an airplane! P.C. I was able to make PC-6 STOL High Fidelity Flight Model with the unique diving characteristics. 😃 Edited February 4, 20215 yr by OSM
February 8, 20215 yr Referring to the modded TBM. If the doors were fused in the original Asobo model, does this mean he actually changed the model to add the doors as separate animated parts? As I thought this was very difficult to do. EDIT: Looks like I can answer this myself after checking the Reddit thread. It appears the TBM was the only GA aircraft with the doors ready to go, but for some reason, Asobo decided not to activate the animation part. I presume because people would say 'how about all the other aircraft'. Edited February 8, 20215 yr by bobcat999 Rob (but call me Bob or Rob, I don't mind).
