February 11, 20215 yr I want buy FS2020 from steam, also deluxe edition 90 Euros, but I have only keyboard, can I play with all functions ? Another question, I wish play a demo to see how it works, exists this possibility ?
February 11, 20215 yr Sure you can, you will need to assign what keys you want to use for the flight control surfaces in the options and it's less than ideal using the keyboard only, but it absolutely is possible to do that. A better option if you don't have a joystick, would be to buy a cheap gamepad and assign the flight control surfaces to the joypad controls. you can find a controller of that type for about 15 quid which will do the trick and that would work well. There's no free demo, but you can try it for a quid if you get a Gamepass account. Edited February 11, 20215 yr by Chock Alan Bradbury Check out my youtube flight sim videos: Here
February 11, 20215 yr Chock beat me to it, but Gamepass is the way to go as a trial. I used it on my old system while waiting for my new system to arrive then I switched to Steam. And any budget usb joystick 🕹 or game controller will be better than just keyboard until you decide to buy a more dedicated flight stick or yoke... then later you can use it to control drone camera later so it will still have a use and money not wasted. February 11, 20215 yr Commercial Member You absoluytely can, but there are plenty of very inexpensive flight controllers available from countless sources, I recommend you pick one up. For less than $30 USD you should be able to pick up a joystick/controller that has a throttle lever and twist rudder as well as the normal X and Y Axis. I hope this helps! Best wishes! February 11, 20215 yr I've been flying using the keyboard for 20 years, and continue to do so with MSFS.
February 11, 20215 yr No doubt, I fly with the keyboard when on my laptop sitting with the family watching TV. Looks like I’m only browsing... especially with tubeliners. Once up and away AP on and done, auto land at the other end.
February 11, 20215 yr It is not a combat sim so keyboard will be clunky but will work. I would not try it wearing a VR headset though.
February 11, 20215 yr It used to be that you could buy a TM Tflight HOTAS windows/ps3 for $43 new on Amazon (I bought one for that exact amount there to use with a laptop 4 years ago). Now a used one is $140 and up. MSFS popularity has bumped the prices of controllers to ridiculous levels. BTW, it does not matter that this is for the outdated Sony PS3, because it also works perfect with Windows on a PC. The 5th picture down shows the rocker switch (an axis that you make to be the rudder) on the back of the throttle handle. This works 10 times better than a twist rudder (but there is also a twist axis on the stick that you could use instead, either or both). The stick and throttle separate to place on both sides of you, or can be locked together. https://www.amazon.com/Thrustmaster-T-Flight-Hotas-Flight-Stick-PC/dp/B001CXYMFS/ 5800X3D, RTX4070, 600 Watt, one or two 1440p 32" screens, 64 GB RAM, 4 TB PCle 3 NVMe, Warthog throttle, VKB NXT EVO stick, Honeycomb Alpha yoke, CH quad, 3 Logitech panels, 2 StreamDecks, Desktop Aviator Trim Panel.
