February 13, 20215 yr Hi I have a 10 year old computer, i5 3.2ghz, Nvidia 1060 6GB graphics card and 16mb ram and I am running FS2020 on a 10 year old 42 inch Panasonic tv, I cant afford a new graphics card ( the newer ones are just mega bucks) FS2020 runs pretty well considering my ageing computer but I am thinking of getting a new monitor, prefably a curved one and smaller than 42 inch, would I get better frame rates, would I visually see a difference from the flightdeck?? what monitor would you reccomend if I was to get one?? any help would be appreciated........dont want to be spending a lot though, maybe £ 350 pounds max?? Thanks Regards Paul EGCC Regards Paul EGCC
February 13, 20215 yr Moderator @tull, performance is directly related to resolution, not screen size. What resolution is your Panasonic TV? Assuming 1920*1080 what would be your preferred screen size bearing in mind curved screens only come in higher resolutions which would result in lower fps. A 16:9 1920*1080 monitor would be best for you but you should bear in mind that is quite a low resolution these days. If you’re certain you won’t be buying a more powerful computer then stick with my recommendation. Ray (Cheshire, England). February 13, 20215 yr Moderator @tull, the recommendation for the Samsung was from Bert and would be a good choice with its IPS Panel - the highest quality. Obviously coming down to a 27” from 42” will make things smaller but much crisper. Ray (Cheshire, England). February 14, 20215 yr I run P3D 4.5 in 1080p on a FHD LG 27" IPS LED monitor and it is perfectly good enough. After years of having had a 17" CRT monitor, it still seems absolutely sharp and crisp.
