March 1, 20215 yr Good morning I'm brand new to MSFS but not the series in general, and just come over from Xplane! I installed MSFS on my D drive and also created a different folder on the D drive called MSFS for the package install I've verified via Developer mode that D:\MSFS\Community is my folder for Community packages But I've also noticed that there is a Community folder within D:\WpSystem\ which mirrors with one in C:\Users\... My issue is that I've only managed to get one package to install, the Machmell Fishery airport, for which I did the following: 1. Copy main folder into D:\MSFS\Community 2. Create symbolic link to D:\WpSystem\ community folder 3. Verified this mirrored to C:\Users\... community folder 4. Tested in MSFS - all okay I do the exact same procedure with a whole host of aircraft add-ons and they just refuse to show! e,g, PA28r201 folder, which contains a SimObjects folder Copied into D:\MSFS and symbolic link to WpSystem as before. Refuses to show up Please help me! It's driving me crazy! 🙂 Thanks Scott
March 1, 20215 yr Dont make things so complicated for yourself. There is only one community folder to worry about unless stated otherwise in the addons install instructions. However to make things more organized, I use this addon. ... https://flightsim.to/file/1572/msfs-addons-linker I have a seperate directory called msfs addons and sub folders with scenery and within that by continent and country. Dont have to do that. Then one folder for aircraft, and another misc addons. Then the program makes all the links to the community folder. I'm desperate to make it easier haha Thank you for the link, I have downloaded that and got it running I've taken the folders out of the Community folder for now and moved them to a new "MSFS-Downloads" folder which I've roughly organised into Aircraft, Airports and Add-ons. So at this stage, all Community folders are blank and I have my downloads ready. Which MSFS Community folder do I point the application at? D:\MSFS\Community D:\WpSystem\S-1-5-21-10215*****\AppData\Local\Packages\Microsoft.FlightSimulator_*****\LocalCache\Packages\Community C:\Users\******\AppData\Local\Packages\Microsoft.FlightSimulator_*****\LocalCache\Packages\Community Many thanks Scott

March 1, 20215 yr Author Okay great - finally getting somewhere. That software is very useful. Using it, I was able to find downloads which weren't right for MSFS and have removed them. I have green circles and tick marks against the remainder which includes 4 aircraft, but only 1 is appearing inside MSFS A32NX Get Gravel Savage Carbon Salty 747 Workingtitle CJ4 Only the Savage Carbon is appearing despite all four being ticked and with links in the Community folder on the right hand side of the application. Any ideas on that? Thanks Scott
March 1, 20215 yr Author Actually, I think I'm okay now... I believe the other 3 are just improvements to existing stock aircraft. I've been able to add liveries, scenery and so on Thanks again 🙂
March 1, 20215 yr Have you tried only enabling one at a time? Some of those high quality aircraft mods can conflict with each other. I only enable the one I plan to fly. You don't need symbolic links or installation to multiple places, just copy the extracted packages in to D:\MSFS\Community, that's literally it. If stuff isn't showing, potentially it's conflicting with some other addon or when packaged it was nested into another folder it needs pulling out of. Do note the A32NX and WT CJ4 you mentioned are enhancements to aircraft that shipped with MFS. March 1, 20215 yr I don't use any scenery manager at all. I just set up a folder named "Addons" in my packages folder and have sub directories for UK, USA, Spain and Austria" for my sceneries, another directory for Aircraft. I only put sceneries in my Community folder I am using. As I download more, I will just create more folders and sub folders as necessary (A "Misc" folder may be next). If you place this folder outside the packages folder you will have encryption issues. Apart from one piece of payware, nearly all of my addons have come from flightsim.to other than some piers I downloadrd here so far. When you have hundreds, as I do, you will really benefit from a scenery manager to organize the files and keep track of all that stuff. I would go crazy without it. There are several good freeware ones; I use https://flightsim.to/file/1572/msfs-addons-linker and highly recommend it. One other point: the addon manager places links to the addon files, rather than the files themselves, in the Community folder, which eliminates any need to actually copy or move the files per se. Huge advantage! Edited March 1, 20215 yr by cobalt

I certainly have well over 100 and have been tempted to use a manager, but have been happy with my own filing system so far. As my downloads grow, I may reconsider, though I have quite a few that I have only used once or twice.
