10th March 2021 Developer Q&A: Post Your Questions

They said in an older Q&A that they changed their mind regarding the Garmin panels because including more complete versions with the simulator would actually help developers, since they could just use the stock ones. Still, they've got to bring them up to the same level as Flight Simulator X at least, it's not as if they don't need work.

And then they backpedaled this statement a bit in the most recent Q&A by saying that they actually would prefer Working Title to improve the Garmins, so it's not clear that Asobo even intends to do this as promised.

I love the Working Title folks but they have way more people contributing to the CJ4 then to the Garmins at this point, as far as I can tell.  So Garmin progress has been relatively slow.  That's the nature of open source projects, contributors come and go and progress ebbs and flows.

But hey, anything Asobo can use to get out of doing work.

Also, this:

We will pick questions that stand out to us and ask them during the Sim Update 3 portion of the program.

Is nothing but a lame attempt to keep from asking the questions the community actually has about how updates will be QAed in the future to avoid a repeat of the flaps bug - that would be the #1 most voted item.

You are correct.   We have four people working mostly on the CJ4, and two people at the moment working across all 3 Garmin models.   (And one of those, me, has not been able to do much recently due to other commitments to my time.)

Yep.  🙂  That said, if folks are interested in contributing we're always happy to help get them up to speed on how stuff is laid out and what the dev process looks like.

I've been trying recently to hunt down the lockup problems that some folks are still suffering from.  No real progress yet, but hopefully I'll be able to find something soon.   It's been frustratingly hard to repro.

Not much point in a detailed approach planner if, when you arrive at the runway the aircraft still floats along despite the throttle off and nose flared (default 747 after the flaps fix).

So much basic stuff that still needs to get stabilised.
