March 15, 20215 yr Hello All, I recently purchased Realityxp GTN 650 to use with my A2A Aircraft and no luck getting it to work with any of my aircraft! A2A 172, A2A Cherokee, A2A Commanche. At the least I would like this gauge to work in my 172 as this is the exact setup I use in real world aviation. Great tool to practice when I cant fly! I have installed the add-on into fsx and trainer is working but cant get the gauge to appear in any of these aircraft through config tool, basically gives me an error on all instances. I did try to replace panel.config files provided on this forum into the 172 but still no luck! Please any help would be greatly appreciated! Ryan York
March 15, 20215 yr Author This is the error I am getting for the 172 and cherokee, comanchee is a bit different! Access to the path C:\Program Files (X86)\Microsoft Games\Microsoft Flight Simulator X\Sim Objects\Airplanes\A2A_C172\Panel\panel.cfg is denied Ryan York
March 15, 20215 yr Hi, Can you please post the content of the RXP log files (see RXP User's Manual for file path)?

March 16, 20215 yr Thank you. Isn't there any other information displaying with "Access to the path C:\Program Files (X86)\Microsoft Games\Microsoft Flight Simulator X\Sim Objects\Airplanes\A2A_C172\Panel\panel.cfg is denied" ? If you manually looking into "C:\Program Files (X86)\Microsoft Games\Microsoft Flight Simulator X\Sim Objects\Airplanes\A2A_C172\Panel\" do you see any other file with 'panel' in the name?
March 16, 20215 yr For the C172... it is a two step process 1. Select the GTN650 in the a2a Tools airplane config app 2. If this was the F1 GTN650, replace the F1 unit by the RXP unit. Is this the way you went? and how far did you get? Bert
March 16, 20215 yr Author RXP, I did see another pop up window when I tried to close out the error! I will manually check the panel folder after work. Burt, This is the way I tried to configure the 172. I did install the panel config files for this aircraft from the forum and same error! One question about RXP, when I purchased gps from reality xp it took me to a flight 1 install wrapper confused on the difference between the two. Another note knowing that the Comanche 250 supports RXP GTN650 it is also giving me an error! but a totally different one. It seamed to take at first but I had a copy of FSX Steam I removed thinking there was a conflict between the two sims. I will follow up when I get home from work and try to give more detailed information. Thank you for your assistance with this. If I can get this to work I will be looking to purchase the 750 to use in tandem with the 650. Thanks again, Ryan York
March 16, 20215 yr F1 is our e-commerce procurement partner and we're using their e-commerce wrapper system. As for the error message it is important to know exactly what it is. Usually the GUI Panel Assistant would only fail updating the panel.cfg file if it is read only, and in rare cases, when it is in a protected folder tree (i.e. a subfolder within a Windows protected folder like "Program Files (x86)". I say in rare cases because the assistant is supposed to open an UAC prompt so that you can grant access to do, but it depends on your user account and depending on your system configuration, it could be restricted from doing so. In this case, it would still save a modified panel.cfg under a different name and telling you about manually swapping files. NB: Given how simmers are usually modifying the simulator files, it is not recommended to installing the simulator program into a protected folder like "Program Files (x86)". Usually you'd install it the root instead (say "C:\FSX").
March 16, 20215 yr Author Understood, If I had the CD set (lost in a move) I would reinstall the program (FSX).I did try to disable UAC and reinstall GPS. Very frustrating indeed maybe its time to upgrade to a different sim in the near future. It seams this is a configuration issue on my end and again I appreciate you all taking the time to help resolve this issue. Will dig deeper later on this afternoon when I have access to the simulator PC. Is there another way to insert images other than through URL? I can show screen shots of what is happening on my end. Thanks, Ryan York

The Microsoft FSX registration/validation step no longer works. Many of us have installed FSX SE. It is inexpensive, often on sale. I built my new system last August and had to move to SE. SE is reportedly more stable but otherwise seems 100% compatible to FSX addons. May be my new system, or SE, or both, but it has been rock steady. March 16, 20215 yr Speaking of FSX-SE, I've noticed a few days ago it is no longer displaying Dovetail Games but MSFT instead. Back to the topic: please don't disable UAC you'll make things worse and endanger the security of your system. Just let me know once you're back what is the full message. As for posting images, you can only post URL on this forum.
March 16, 20215 yr Author Ok, After I get the first error and try to close A2A config tool the next window says "Cant save / write cfg file." when I click ok it says " ERROR Access to the path C:\Program Files (x86)\Microsoft Games\ Microsoft flight Simulator X\A2A\Cessna 172\ Tools\ac.cfg' is denied" This happens with A2A 172 and A2A Cherokee On the A2A Comanche 250 it has a totally diferent error see below. I know ONE THING at a TIME but just throwing it out there!! March 16, 20215 yr Author Jean-Luc, There are 10 panel .cfg files and 1 .RXP file inside the A2A 172 Panel folder! Ryan York
March 16, 20215 yr 18 minutes ago, Bukster said: Jean-Luc, There are 10 panel .cfg files and 1 .RXP file inside the A2A 172 Panel folder! Fellow user/member here. I believe you should clarify. Your operating system will not allow even two (2) files with the same filename in a folder. So you cannot have (10) "panel.cfg" files in that folder. And by (1) RXP file do you mean (1) RXP .ini file? RealityXP.GNS.ini? If you explain better we will be better able to help. Right now there is confusion. I fly with FSX SE and have the A2A Cessna 182 installed with a nicely working RXP GNS gauge. In my previous computer system I also had a separate instance of the 182 installed with a nicely working RXP GTN gauge. So I am confident we can guide you to success here with the 172. You will need to be more detailed at times to get there. March 16, 20215 yr Author Maybe I am the one confused I was asked to see if any other files in panel folder contained panel in the name and yes there are several! 1. panel.cfg 2. panel_F1_650.cfg 3. panel_F1_750.cfg 4. panel_F1_dual.cfg 5. panel_MINDSTAR_430.cfg 6. panel_MINDSTAR_530.cfg 7. panel_MINDSTAR_dual.cfg 8. panel_RXP_430.cfg 9. panel_RXP_530.cfg 10. panel_RXP_dual.cfg 11. panel_210314_23056.gtn.RXP They all say panel and are cfg files! Thanks, Ryan York
