FBW A320 and CRJ

Featured Replies

Let me preface this by saying, I am not asking what is better than the other.  I know they are completely different planes with different methodology, etc.  I have been flying the 320 for years (P3d FSlabs and now FBW in MSFS).  Between the CRJ and the current FBW, which is more complete in terms of lack of bugs, smoothness.  I realize the CRJ is brand new so things will pop up, and I really enjoy the FBW with my Airbus "experience" but always feel like I am chasing the 320... meaning, new updates and mods seem to fix one thing and break another, etc.  So with that said, how complete is the CRJ out of the box as it relates to the FBW?

I like the CRJ much better! Great plane!

I think it’s hard to compare a fully fledged complex payware add-on and a free modded aircraft by the community as a labour of love project.

I would say to remember that the stable version of the 320 is like it says on the tin very stable for me anyway. The Dev version of course has its ups and downs but given the rate this mod has improved so quickly over time is a really something I can live with and a joy to see it improve.

What strikes me most when I compare the two is the smoothness of the CRJ.

With the FBW A320 (and a flightplan in the FMS) I always get lots of microstutters even when the general framerates are high, mostly on and near the ground, spoiling the immersion a lot.

With the CRJ there are no stutters whatsoever for me. Even when the framerates temporarily drop to the low 20s it's still smooth.

Now that I made a few flights with an airliner which have been as smooth as flying the classic C172 it's really hard for me to get back to the stuttery FBW A320.

Yes I've noticed how smooth it is. My gpu is running at 55% and I'm getting 28 fps buts it's smooth. No stutters or jerkiness

I just finished a flight in the CRJ down at KCLT-Charlotte. Practicing ILS approaches in terrible weather, and don't think I ever went above 25fps, but it still was smooth as silk, and even panning with TrackIR was smooth. At 25fps TrackIR in other aircraft doesn't seem smooth to me.

You can immediately sense on the first start that this is a real deal, a complex payware bird. I am so bored of the 320, so this is a VERY welcome change.
