December 27, 200619 yr Ok, i have been waiting patiently for some scenery addons for fsx for over 2 months now and still nothing out there. Is this because of the round earth design with fsx or because it just takes a long time to do? I am dying for that flightscenery portland update for fsx and some major city addons. Where are they devs??
December 27, 200619 yr Don't get me wrong, I'm very grateful to ALL developers........but I'm #### impatient!! I want my scenery NOW!! Whats going on lads?!?
December 27, 200619 yr They'll come - I am sure. I am eagerly awaiting the first release of Peter Wilding's team. Rumor had it (as far as I recall) that a Ground Environment with integrated Flight Environment is in the works. I would also die for anything from koorby (Autogen(!!!!), Vista Australis). However, with the current fps issues, I doubt that I would hold my breath for any airport add-ons. We shall see. I am sure that there will a lot of excellent add-ons for FSX, but only after people see a little improved fps that leave room for oh-so-needed precious CPU cycles.Pat
December 27, 200619 yr The only addons I am looking forward to are... in this order1. Ultimate Terrain (+ FS Genesis Mesh..already out)2. Ground environment Pro for FSX (I am assuming that it would drastically improve and give varied textures).3. ACES Fix for airport scenery textrures...so I can get airport sceneries from the following vendors.a) Flight Scenery, :( Aerosoft, c) Fly Tampa. d) UKscenery (Gatwick Pro and only the Pro series..not the xtreme series)4. PMDG and LVL-D5. Dreamfleet, F1, real air, Aeroworx with their usual assortments of GA aircrafts made specifically for FSX.6. Captain sim's upgrade of their aircrafts for FSX.7. Any newbie vendors who can do something really good with FSX.8. UT (Traffic)..but I already have the FS9 traffic running in FSX ...so no hurry.MannyThe cloud and sky textures of FSX is amazing my itself. I wouldn't mind that freeware update of Blue sky. Manny Beta tester for SIMStarter
December 27, 200619 yr I am most anxious about the PMDG A320 and the 737NGX. Short/medium haul is my domain. While I admire people who can fly their PMDG 747 around the world for 10-hour-legs, it'd be just a tad too boring for me to watch a magenta line for all this time. I still don't get why people are all over long-haul *shrug again* and PMDG prioritized the 747.The verdict on Level-D is not out yet, because they have released exactly one (excellent) add-on. Ultimate Traffic for FSX or PAI would be nice as well. And actually most from Flight1 - and scenery from Aerosoft. An ATR or the Cheyenne for FSX would also rock my world for a few evenings. But I guess the most anticipated and *free* update awaits from MS/Aces.
December 27, 200619 yr Maybe it's because FSX is horribly unstable on most machines?Common sense = no forum post needed.
December 27, 200619 yr After a rocky start, and finding-out where I had erred, I have since found FSX to be VERY stable, and is now offering very good performance, after following tweaks from here, and those published at NZONE.COM....Anyway, to the original poster....two months really is not a lot of time to develop good, bug-free, and well optimised add-ons; give the developers time, and the results will come :)

Where are>they devs??Ehh... Do you seriously expect anyone to do a new version of any non-trivial scenery in two months? Even without changing FS version that is a pretty optimistic expectation. Are you aware the complete SDK's where not released two months ago? For example the GMax exporter was released just before Christmas. Are you aware there are changes between FS9 and FSX? For example, the map data for the entire world (on top of which your scenery is placed) has changed, airports have fences, etc. Even if you do not try to use the new features, they are affecting the area containing your scenery. Are you aware a non-trivial scenery isn't simply an export from GMax and you are done? Are you aware that the tools we used can no longer be used without serious hacks taking a long time to investigate (for example AFCAD)? And even if a hack is found it is nothing but a hack, and no sane person really want to use hacks on any big project. Are you aware the people who make tools etc are typically people who are already involved in other projects. No one who is willing and able to make such tools is sitting around doing nothing for a year just to be able to work on FSX right away. We need to complete other things before we can even start thinking about our scenery tools.

That's why i created this post. That's a good explanation and I'm sure that has something to do with it. Thanks. I still want my scenery ASAP though. ;)For the guy that says fsx is unstable: Give me a break and learn how to use a computer. Even on my old 3.6 P4 it was totally stable, just ran slow. It runs like a scalded dog on my new pc because i know how to build and configure a pc. I suggest learning a bit about a pc instead of going off on rants about a game not being stable. Not performing well I'll give you but not stable, umm nope, don't think so.
December 27, 200619 yr >Maybe it's because FSX is horribly unstable on most>machines?>>Common sense = no forum post needed.>On most machines runing technology prior to January of this year, maybe. Go buy a new machine or run away to the fs9 forum.
December 27, 200619 yr Sorry - any application which will permit - in this case - any add-on - to cause a BSoD on Windows XP Pro is not doing it's error-trapping properly. I've been in IT since '86 (albeit no genius, by any measure), but your "fsx is unstable: Give me a break and learn how to use a computer" comment is insulting to many people. That FSX is at least moderately unstable is the opinion of a great many folk in this hobby - and probably within Microsoft itself. i7 [email protected] | 32GB RAM | EVGA RTX 3080Ti | Maximus Hero VII | 512GB 860 Pro | 512GB 850 Pro | 256GB 840 Pro | 2TB 860 QVO | 1TB 870 EVO | Seagate 3TB Cloud | EVGA 1000 GQ | Win10 Pro | EK Custom water cooling.
December 27, 200619 yr I have had no problem with instability, it runs fine and have not even had a CTD.As for scenery, Lars answer is right on. I am having to totally redo and learn new ways to do the same things I could do in FS9, it'll take some time.Regards, MichaelKDFW Asus A8N32-SLI Deluxe nForce4 SLI-x16 / AMD Best, Michael KDFW
December 27, 200619 yr Gee, I don't know where you are looking. I've added Orlando by Cloud 9, Nassau and Cancun by Tropicalsim and Stansted Extreme by UK2000 all FSX native and all good. I hear Cloud 9 Hong Kong is coming as is Tongass Fjords for FSX and Tropicalsim has a got a few in the pipeline.I remember FS9, with it's endless CTDs, starting slow and then finally, after the 9.1 patch,a flood of sceneries coming.Lee Lee H i9 13900KF 64GB Ram 24GB RTX 4090
December 27, 200619 yr Where are they? One is on my hard drive right now.I'm doing KSTL with it's new runway for FSX.I could release it now, but I am having trouble excluding a chain-link fence that crosses the new taxiways. Wouldn't want you taxiing into a fence, would we?Also I don't have the taxiways signs up yet for the new runway. Also I don't have all of the jetways put in yet.Other than that, it's finished. I've already done some approaches on the new runway 11/29 to test. Works great. But I have a life outside of FS. And especially now with Christmas and all that I have been busy with other things. My hobbyist dabbling in scenery design takes a back seat.RhettAMD 3700+ (@2530 mhz), eVGA 7800GT 256 (Guru3D 93.71), ASUS A8N-E, PC Power 510 SLI, 2 GB Corsair XMS 3-3-3-8, WD 250 gig 7200 rpm SATA2, CoolerMaster Praetorian Rhett 7800X3D ♣ 96 GB G.Skill Flare ♣ Gigabyte 4090 ♣ Crucial P5 Plus 2TB

Go buy a new machine or run away to the fs9>forum.You know this type of response is really getting to be old and irritating. Especially since its horse s**t, road apples, pony pucks andpuppy poo. If I can run my poor old P4 2.4 with 1.5 G of DDR Ramand get 19-25 fps in MOST areas, yes I conceed in dense areaslike LAX, YYZ, JFK its down to 14-15 but I can live with that.Sliders are mosly 3/4's couple of them are full up. Yea I even haveyour ripply water and cutsie boats turned on, only when Im flying lowover water naturally. At FL350 what do I care? So please quit suggesting I and others HAVE to run out and spend 2 grand on a newsuper computer to run a $70.00 game or go back to FS9 when it justaint so. With a lot of cursing and swearing, tweaking, experimenting, knowing your machine, and patience. FSX can be made to run reasonably well.
