Odd happinings with ORBX addons

Featured Replies

When I deselect any ORBX addon in the P3Dv5, it deselects the one above it. Only Orbx addons.

Then I cannot reselect the one that was deselected. I have to go into the add-ons.CFG file in C:\ProgramData\Lockheed Martin\Prepar3D v5 and change to true.

I have repaired all four modules

I have resynchronized in Orbx Central.

I have reinstalled all my ORBX scenery.

I have posted this on ORBX with no success so far.

I have posted in P3D forum.

Weird, but I could use some help.

If you are trying to stop some scenery loading in a flight you should use Simstarter this will let load only the scenery for the route you intend to fly. deselecting in the addon option is not the best why unless your trying to track a scenery issue.

Lorby-SI makes a very powerful free utility called P3D Addon Manager that affords you a lot better control of your scenery config.  It allows you to place sceneries into groups and enable/disable them as a group, for example, which I find very handy if not indispensible.  It also gives you a lot of other important capabilities, like making a one-click backup of the P3D config files that are scattered across the file system, moving sceneries installed via the old scenery.cfg method to an xml-based configuration, an easy one-click function to clear your shader cache, etc etc

See the LORBY-SI forum here at AVSIM.

Lorby doesn't help.

I have uninstalled p3d, ORBX, and all other addons and reinstalled with same results.

In the sim when I deselect an addon the one above it is deselected and I have to go into the .cfg file to manually activate it.

Actually I found the exact opposite.

While the scenery config edits fine in P3D, the Add-On editor in P3D is totally unreliable and screws up all the time.

So I moved to the Lorby tool exclusively and haven't had an issue since.

Plus the Lorby tool allows ordering of xml scenery addons.

Cheers

Is there a tutorial on how to use Simstarter. I have it but it is a complete mystery and not intuitive (to me, anyway)?

Just to follow up on Lorby. When I select or deselect addons in Lorby it has no effect in the sim (for me anyway)

Solved. Uninstalled everything then reinstalled everything.
