X Plane announces new scenery and reworked graphics to compete with FS2020. Some aircrafts with even higher detail level than FS are already in the works. 
XPlane 12 will also to be equipped with global photoscenery and 3D objects. Have a look here:

Not sure about that, if the discord announcement is anything to go by it seems microsoft might be changing alliance.
