REVIEW: Sim-Wings Hamburg

Another great review. Thanks.

ahh I was waiting for that :D. Thanks a lot!

Great review as always, and I too hope the cartoonish ground markings will be updated some time soon. The satellite terminal is meant as a temporary solution for the potential loss of several bus gates while the gate area was to be extended to the back of the existing pier (you'll notice the gap behind the existing gates from 14:10 on in the video where the old cargo area has been). Afaik now these plans have been postponed due to traffic reduction as a result of the corona crisis and it is not in use for the time being and probably forseeable future (although aircraft are parked in front of it). So I don't know if the satellite terminal is actually lit at night. However, I'd love to have transparency and lighting added there nonetheless. I agree sim-wings have done a great job with the airport.

Ahh that's really interesting, thanks for the information. That would explain why it isn't really named on the charts, and why I spent a long time thinking what to call it! 😄

Hello everybody! My review of Sim-Wings' EDDH is now up. 🙂

not at all clear to me why these people bother to render the check in hall or other interiors... who is looking at this stuff? the airport itself is nothing more than a take off or landing point.

Me

Because I find it exciting to explore the interiors of airports and surroundings. I find it makes the whole flight experience more of an adventure and adds to the suspension of disbelief. And it's especially cool to see when you have been there in real life.

It's cool to watch aircraft movements from the interior and would be cool to have animated passengers (hopefully we will soon). Why else did Orbx create PeopleFlow or NatureFlow back in the day? Many flightsimmers enjoy having the airport or landscape environment reproduced.

I understand there are some people that only appreciate the pure 'flight' simulation aspects but many others prefer the fully simulated experience including their surrounding environments being reproduced and that includes where you board a plane and check in or exit a taxi airside. That's like saying why does American Truck Simulator bother having aircraft fly overhead near airports or trains pass you by as you drive. Why? Because it helps immerse oneself.

I do notice that those that don't like it seem to have very strong opinions against it like it seriously disturbs them. Live and let live I say.

He has to have his coffee before he flies 🙂 And maybe use the restroom 🙂
