May 26, 20215 yr The app has been successfully downloaded, but failed to install the software and I cannot run MSFS as a result of it. Has anyone faced something like this in a recent few days? Last time the Gaming Services was updated was on 05/21. I have googled for solutions, but most of them are the registry hacks that I'd prefer to avoid. This is MS App within MS Store on the MS OS for a Christ sake!!! The solution should be more simplistic and straight forward. Would appreciate any ideas Thanks Dmitriy 9950X3D, X870E ROG CROSSHAIR HERO, Corsair Dominator Titanium 64GB DDR5-6000 PC5-48000, ASUS RTX 5070Ti 16GB, 9100 PRO 4TB Samsung ,990 PRO 4TB Samsung, AX1600i 1600 Watt 80 Plus Titanium ATX, ASUS 360 ARGB EXTREME 360mm Liquid CPU Cooling Kit.

May 26, 20215 yr Commercial Member Exactly the same here: it starts to download updated gaming services from Microsoft Store, but gets stuck at about 75%, with error 0x80073d26. I cannot use MSFS and this happens on 3 computers (on a 4th computers, luckly, I purchased from Steam and the update went well). They should seriously consider to fix this messed way to update.
May 26, 20215 yr Author I really hope MS will sort this out officially. 9950X3D, X870E ROG CROSSHAIR HERO, Corsair Dominator Titanium 64GB DDR5-6000 PC5-48000, ASUS RTX 5070Ti 16GB, 9100 PRO 4TB Samsung ,990 PRO 4TB Samsung, AX1600i 1600 Watt 80 Plus Titanium ATX, ASUS 360 ARGB EXTREME 360mm Liquid CPU Cooling Kit.
May 26, 20215 yr Commercial Member I finally fixed this doing a system restore from an image saved automatically on May 15th. This is obviously a non sense, since my computers have only MSFS installed into and they are used exclusively to fly. MSFS starts automatically when they are powered on. So, it is definitely something bad from Microsoft.
May 27, 20215 yr I had the same issue (error 0x80073d26), made me reïnstall Windows because there were no possible restore points after a recent 21H1 update. But I'm glad I had too, no CTD's and other quirks no more.
May 27, 20215 yr Try going to W10 settings, programs, click in FS2020, advanced options, press in end program and in then repair button.
May 28, 20215 yr Got the same error 0x80073d26. It is related to MS Store / Gaming Service - and has nothing to do with MSFS2020. The net is full of complaints about this problem - and you will find a lot of hints to solve. They may or may not help and you will spend hours to try all ... For me it is not the first time it happends. Last time I tried nearly all offered solutions out - no one was working. Conclusion - spend some money for a backup programm. At least one time per month I make a backup from System (C:) and a backup from MSFS after every World / SU update. Yesterday it tooks me 15 minutes to recover the system partition and I could update MSFS to SU4. After updating W10 to the last stand today I made a backup from the system drive and from the drive with MSFS again. Best solution for me. No more hassle. Best regards
May 28, 20215 yr I have banged my head against the wall so many times for this problem. Google searches and the reported fixes will also drive you insane. After all the fixes implemented, it sometimes still does not work. What has worked is a few computer reboots. Sometimes it takes 3x, but eventually it kicks in. But it is evil and wish MS would fix this. Has nothing to do with MSFS other than being a dependency for store updates.
