Seneca Stall Speed Problem ?

Featured Replies

Is anyone else finding the stall speeds in the Carenado Seneca too high with this patch ?

Full flaps and Gear down on final I seem to be stalling around 70-80kias rather than 60ish I would expect.

If it's only that aircraft, maybe it needs to be updated.

I'm not seeing the problem with other aircraft so I have raised a Zendesk call with Carenado, but really wondering if other people have encountered it with the Seneca as well

Can anyone else confirm this? I too have the issue of the seneca begins to stall around 80kts while on final. Maybe when Carenado pushes it's updates as a response to SU5, this will be addressed. Maybe.

The Seneca seems fine.

There are a few aircraft where the stall speeds are way off.

I'm pretty sure without the mod...you can fly the TBM at like 65 knots.  Last time I checked, the default 172 you could get all the way down to 30 knots.

I'm less unhappy with stall speeds that are lower than they should be than an aircraft where the stall speed is too high and dangerously close to the standard approach speed as seems to be the case with the Seneca.

Just testing with the updated version and full flaps and gear stall speed looks to be 70kts when book value looks to be 61kts.

So I think it may be better than it was but still significantly out.

Why are you getting so slow? I fly light twins,IRL at a minimum of 100kts on approach. Stuff starts of get really difficult under that speed if you loose an engine.

First time I noticed was when I messed up late in an approach and it stalled at about 80kt.

Other times have been testing to see if the problem was replicable and today I was checking if the last plane update made any difference.

Should be around 70 but there are many factors: Wind direction / speed, fuel load, decent rate. I'll pay attention to my next landing in about 20 minutes.

No wind, touchdown was at 70knots but I could have held her back a bit more.  Seems to be on the money with the latest Carenado patch.

I did a few circuits at KHAF with a 6knt headwind and the stall TAS is about 65knts or a few knots over the spec.  Still it's not a floater by any means.

Cheers

What has the wind got to do with the stall speed?
