May 31, 20215 yr At about 9R and 4L intersection the runway is broken. Anyone replicate this problem? Fix? This is Asobo O'Hare

June 1, 20215 yr If your aircraft is bumping over the intersection - or even being launched into the air - this is certainly an issue that crops up at some airports. I've had that myself, taxiing along the runway and suddenly being pitched into the air. So it may be a glitch rather than an add-on conflict. But trying it with an empty Community Folder would clarify that. I fly for a VA with Acars and on one runway, beginning of the roll I hit a bump, it pitched the aircraft up in the air and it settled back down again. Acars logged it as a takeoff and landing.

The problem is KORD is default scenery (can't recall if it is the premium version or the one that comes with base game). Miami is LVFR but I have never had that problem until now. Will try with empty Community. Thanks.
June 1, 20215 yr I once got thrown into a high sider when landing on a wonky runway like this. It's the most annoying aspect of MSFS IMO vatsim s3
June 1, 20215 yr Author Yet...It has not been mentioned to my knowledge in the developer Q&A. Does anyone know if there is an upvote link for this issue?
June 1, 20215 yr The bug was reported way way back when MSFS was first released, and the devs stated they couldn't replicate the problem. There is a low/high inconsistency between two points in the mesh, creating a sheer cliff that you run into. The slower you go and the longer you let the scenery flesh out the mesh, the less likely you are to run into the problem. Sometimes the bumps take several minutes until the sim smoothens the height differences between both halves of the mesh. I've sat and watched these "speed bumps" or whatever you call them go from huge to small, appear and disappear, etc. The terrain in MSFS is alive. Take-offs are optional, landings are mandatory. The only time you have too much fuel is when you're on fire. To make a small fortune in aviation you must start with a large fortune. There's nothing less important than the runway behind you and the altitude above you. It's better to be on the ground wishing you were in the air, than in the air wishing you were on the ground.

It is odd that devs say they can't replicate when there are actual fixes for select runways on flightsim.to..lol. There is even a youtube video.

I suspect it's just a problem they can't fix without immense dev costs, and so their response until such time that they can tackle it is "Under Investigation." The (many) threads on the MSFS forums about this bug have videos, screenshots, etc. All we're missing is a fix. June 1, 20215 yr Author Well I tested both airports again with default and with Miami add on and lol couldn't replicate my own problem. So it appears to perhaps be tied to speed except for those runways that have built in "faults"
June 1, 20215 yr I had this happen twice in the last couple of days. Once at KDSM and the other at KORF. These are smaller airports and the sim was running smooth. Fault line gaps in the runway surface and the aircraft bounced violently around exactly like the video above. I also read above that people have been seeing this for a while, but I have never seen it until the last few days after the latest update. BTW, if anyone saw the movie The Langoliers, it is just like that where the langoliers ate through the runway, but I digress. 🙂 A very rude ending to otherwise great flights. They need to get this resolved.
June 1, 20215 yr Doubt it'll get resolved soon.https://forums.flightsimulator.com/t/weird-crashes-on-runways/280625 <- Back in September. https://forums.flightsimulator.com/t/runway-tears-awareness-added-link-to-new-bug-report/314575 <- Mega-Thread about the issue started in November. June 1, 20215 yr I stopped using Midway (KMDW 22L) because of this. I got launched into the air in the middle of a takeoff roll back in the Fall - as I was about 20 kts below rotation the aircraft nosed over and crashed. The next day, while taxiing into position at the same airport for a takeoff on RWY 4R, i ran into an invisible wall/hole which trashed the aircraft and dumped the flight. There was nothing visible on the runway or in my path when these occurred - no visible rips or tears. Not sure if there was a hill or not on 22L - it was a night takeoff. So much for MDW.
