12GB of VRAM...that's pretty underwhelming for anyone that already has a 1080Ti or 2080Ti.  16GB just feels like the obvious sweet spot...here we go with another big miss.

Especially for the retail price of $1,199.00 😞

Totally agree. It seems these cards were meant for a different demographic other than flight simmers in mind.

The worry is if 12GB of ram is not enough for flight sims it`s going to become even more of a niche product and will put users off. due to cost of hardware.

Well then, the question I would ask is: Exactly how much ram does MSFS use at Ultra on a 3090 card?

At 4K too! I’ve always wondered about the total volume of vram.

Well some testers are not benchmarking in 1080P as the GPU is CPU Bound and a total waste of time. which makes me wonder why some are buying them with old CPUs.

And low res monitors.

Well there you go then you need a 2 Grand plus GPU in the future for flight sims, that should kill off some new simmers. and they still have some 2,000 addons to do aircraft and scenery lets hope they get the 4090 out soon ill sell my car 😁.

I turned down a 3080Ti today.

My 3080 started to crash, sent it back and they rang me today to say there were sending me a new card out tonight but since it was classed as a build card ( only sold with a new PC build) I noticed they have 3080Ti in stock for builds only. It was going to cost me £700 to "upgrade". To gain 2 fps.....

Yer...."no thanks"

My 3080 was/cost me £795 ( the day/hour of release), later a few months later when I last saw it listed for sale (one day only) it was £1300 (3090 9 in stock £2,500 all sold that day), so at plus £700 that makes a 3080Ti £2000. 🙄

The only time i have seen my 3080 want more VRAM is London all ULTRA but it still runs fine.

I hope, unlike the terrable way P3D v5 users VRAM, i hope/think MS and Asobo will not need the same kind of VRAM  P3Dv5 needs in DX12. But who knows? If you want to run MSFS in 4K then the 3090 is the card to use. A snip at £2,500 if you can get one. If you do have one, I say good for you, enjoy! it should last a long time.

I think I read Ian saw 14GB in London with full Ultra. At 4K

With Orbx London and Orbx EGLC with full Ultra at 1440p it shows am at 10GB. But runs fine.

LA for me tops out at 9.2 GB same settings.

Everyone needs to watch the video that Nyxx linked.  70% price increase over the 3080 for less than 10% performance gain.

Is that with Render scale set to max, thats 8k as you know Rob? yer I know it adds SS but running at 8K is not really a great bench mark. Also how far above LOD 200 did you manualy go?

4K yes. 8K no. Gaming/siming at 8K is years away and not for 3000 cards. They should give SS setting that dont meen a render scale of 8K
