Gerard;

were are these line gone?

num_slices_low = 128
num_slices_med = 128
num_slices_high = 128
num_slices_ultra = 128

Do you really have them just left out?

Just to confirm, in AS I have to deactivated its function to create the .cfg?

For V5.2 that does not work (see the text below the checkbox in AS)

Bit of topic but i see Rex has a new product out for MSFS and if you check out the new windows update coming soon you will understand why, MS are opening the MS market place to third party`s for FREE no % charge.

Third party`s that sell in the MS game market place will not be charged a cut, like steam or apple do, PMDG can sell in MSFS at full price. Now third party`s see a larger market XBOX included by September, even JF now more towards MSFS. They have done nothing in TG since start of year, but are banging out MSFS products as fast as possible.

Ok, but what does that have to do with P3D and EA ?

Good to read that you found what works abd looks best for you Stan.

What I miss with EA clouds are real cauliflower looking cumulus and cumulonimbus clouds.
From a distance they look like soft clouds as one blob. The 2D clouds do look better from a distance.

Howrver, I want 3D clouds where the direction of the lighting on the clouds has influence on shadows on the clouds.

And I first wanted better looking OC instead of a flat pancake.

LM has focused on improving ES  dusk/dawn  and giving the opportunity to include 2D clouds into EA. That shows me that the cauliflower looking clouds are perhaps not possible with TrueSky.

As I also fly MSFS and there 3D cauliflower clouds exist I really hope it will come to P3D too….

GSalden - I understand what your after here but if I could make a point about the cauliflower cloud or cumulus. In the real atmosphere this cloud is produced with quite unstable atmospheric conditions and that type of cloud development is common how it is unstable is referenced to the real environmental lapse rate, moisture and heat give rise to that boiling growing effect. It is not a feature of cumulus all the time and cumulus can be quite indistinct and unrounded most of the time. I call it a tropical or summer sky. I guess having spent a lifetime observing the real sky day in and day out I would like to say that I think True Sky has just about nailed it now. The issues that remain of course are the lack of clear distinct cirrus at altitude and the blocking which is still evident. I guess without criticising anybody it is simply not possible to recreate the real sky in this or any simulator there are just to many variables to model. I think we have the tools now to do this within the limits of the graphics technology - If you can read the available documentation by the developers of True Sky and you will see that much much more is possible than is currently being delivered via P3DV5 - I am not sure why that is!

Are you sure your volume config mods are not overwritten or being overrided now by the volumetric controls that LM have put into the sim?

Thanks for your post.

In the VolumetricClouds.cfg file there are entries for expanding the cloud base and top.  I increased those values to get more “bumps” on the clouds,

My VolumetricClouds.cfg file from februari this year has not been overwritten by the un- and reinstall of the Client. Therefore it seems that we still have the same file as installed by v5.1 HF1. Which was the one I made and LM used.
