I have all the bits ready for a new build, including an EVGA RTX 3090 FTW3 that I was lucky to grab. Kept checking at Scan UK and one turned up, quick as a flash I ordered it. The situation re availability got even worse after I bought it and prices went up from insane to more expensive than a Bugatti Veyron. Won't be building yet though, I just don't feel inclined to. In a rented place and looking to buy a house. I love the build process itself and don't think I would enjoy it as much until settled in our own house and with my PC room set up. Weird, but then that's just the way I am. Have been building PC's for years. Really enjoy it. Edited June 27, 20214 yr by martin-w

For some of us it's more like 5%-95% 🙂. I've always been good with my hands but the older I get the harder becomes the tuning and tweaking part. Now, if I could remember where I left my scotch.... But, as I mentioned before, it's a short lived hustle (relatively speaking) and ultimately not secure as quantum computing can make quick work of blockchains keeping in mind a hacker (or in this case more likely government backed resources or large criminal enterprises or even corporate espionage) only needs 51% control in order to re-write "history" (literally). Crypto is going to become hopelessly unsafe. If you are unsure, check-in with your investment companies account reps (i.e. Schwab, Merrill Lynch, Fidelity Investments, etc.). Back to PC building, these days it's much easier to build a PC as in most cases it's just a matter of screws, slot inserts, power connections (most power connectors don't let you plug the wrong cable into the wrong connector, some exceptions of course). The hard part is tuning once everything is assembled ... that takes experience and time. I'm almost certain that 50% or more of the custom built computers I've read about will fail Prime95, especially if AVX testing is used with HT on. Physical building aspect is about 15% of the time, the 85% is tuning and getting the most of the components. Cheers, Rob.
