MSFS Shutdown

There you go, 'mods' do it once again.  Have at it, don't need it, the sim is fabulous on its own.

i use mods al the time , never had any issues.

you need to be careful with them , thats all.

I don't use many, but with the excellent "addons linker", it's easy to disable or enable which ones you want to use.

Plus, with every addon I have, it seems very easy to delete any addon (it's all contained in one folder), and it's gone. So if you can narrow down which one is causing issues, it's an easy fix.

Some of the addons are great, so for me, it's worth using them, and just seeing if any issues pop up. Heck, MSFS has some bugs and it's not as easy to just delete, and fix the problem :).

I used to think this also.  Until one time a few months back I closed out of the flight sim and a few minutes later I started MSFS Linker (mod management addon) and it said 'msfs was already running'?  Sure enough, went into task manage and looked at all the processes and there msfs still churning away.  It will close by itself anywhere from 3-6 minutes after I exit the sim.

OK Here's where my problem came from. In my community folder I have the workingtitle CJ4 Workingtitle g1000 and the working title g3000. I also had the workingtitle-g3000-road data. The workingtitle-g3000-roaddata was the file that had MSFS2020 hanging when I went to close. I removed that file and everything works fine now.

Interestingly I have the exact opposite - somewhere along the line I started getting the shutdown problem where it would take many minutes for the sim to shutdown. Didn't happen every time, but I would say at least 3 out of 5 closes would take a long time. At some point in the last week or two I don't have that problem anymore.

workingtitle-g3000 and workingtitle-g3000-roaddata has been active the entire time. Not saying this addon didn't causing your problem, just that the slow shutdown used to affect me but no longer and I never disabled roaddata.

i always used alt f4 for closing , no issues, takes about 2 or 3 seconds then its gone.

The G3000 road data will cause a delay at shutdown. It’s listed as a known issue with the mod since it’s release. They say that there’s no harm in using the task manager to kill the process early if you don’t want to wait.
