VOR/DME only flightplan in SimBrief?

Featured Replies

Hello,

I posted this also in the NaviGraph froum, but seems not so active ...

as I fly these days the DC-6 a lot I’d like to have just VOR/DME routes only.
In little navmap this is easily possible, however I’d like to skip this step.

Is there any way to modify the DC-6 simbrief profile so that simbrief only uses VORs/DMEs?
Or is there any other setting I can make?

many thanks
Günter

Not Simbrief, so I don't know if this will be helpful, but LittleNavMap has the option to create flight plans with only VOR/DME. For me, it works perfectly with the DC-6.

In Simbrief, just put your departure and destination airport in, and then click on VORs, and just find the best route using only the VORs.

thx for answering.

What do you mean to just click on VORs?

Guenter-

I think Bob means click the selection to show VORs.

I rely on PFPX for all my DC-6 flights… works beautifully now, and has for a decade. SimBrief is good, but if you enjoy the nuances of flight planning as I do, there’s nothing better than PFPX. Just one opinion, and you KNOW what they say about opinions.

Click the VOR tab above the map. Then fill in the DEP/ARR airports, insert DCT into the flight plan box. Note where the route goes in the map. Look for the VOR’s near the route and now just type in the flight plan box which ones you want to use.
It’s very easy and simple to use it in this way.

😆 I still do not get it .... Where do I have to click? Which selection? (sorry)

I got rid of PFPX, because the support and adding new aircraft types is so lousy. Its a kind of dinosaur

thx, but no ... currently not. Was glad to get rid of it.

So, do know which selection in SimBrief Bob meant?

Open Simbrief, look at the map. at the top of the map there are little buttons, starting with route on the left. The 4th button to the right of route is VOR. Just click on that and all the VORs will show up ( three letter names are VORs. The next one over is NDBs, and then Waypoints.

Ah ok, now I understand!

You can also generate a VOR only route in LNM and then just paste that route into Simbrief before generating the OFP. That will be the quickest way I reckon.

That's not really a safe way to do it though.  I tried doing something similar using Skyvector and just picking them and ended up with a routes full of what turned out to just be DME/TACAN navaids that had no localizer only DME info.  I had to resort to installing LNM and all I use it for is finding a route with VOR's that work and plugging that into simbrief to do the rest.

True, it is a catch. If only simbrief could offer the option like LNM / Plan-G etc that only import what is in each sim as far as navidad and waypoints is concerned.
