SU5 is not garbage to everyone

Have you tried making a change to the settings inside the MSFS graphics options so that MSFS recognises it as a Custom instead of Ultra Preset? When I do this, I don't have any problems to make my changes to UserCfg.opt persistent, otherwise it gets overwritten at start. And just to be sure: have you changed it in both sections, for Graphics as well as for GraphicsVR?

I did not change both sections Graphics and GraphicsVR because I am not running a VR headset.

5800X3D, RTX4070, 600 Watt, one or two 1440p 32" screens, 64 GB RAM, 4 TB  PCle 3 NVMe, Warthog throttle, VKB NXT EVO stick, Honeycomb Alpha yoke, CH quad, 3 Logitech panels, 2 StreamDecks, Desktop Aviator Trim Panel. Crystal Light VR.

Thanks I will try making a trivia change so that MSFS records Preset as Custom.

Ok, I don't use VR either, but at some point I was scratching my head because I didn't notice there are two sections in UserCfg.opt, and I changed the settings in the VR part... 😅

My simming system: AMD Ryzen 5800X3D, 32GB RAM, RTX 4070 Ti Super 16GB, LG 38" 3840x1600

Understood. BTW I did not reply earlier because it was sleep time in America.

You may well be right Bob.  I have the fortunate blessing of only just having come back to MSFS, days before SU5, so I don't have a substantial past with the sim to reflect on.

All I can say is that I am very happy with it at present, minus a list of nags that I guess are natural.  The biggest gripe I have with the sim doesn't relate to anything visual or performanec-related;  it's that darned Logbook popping up and breaking the immersion, as soon as I cut the engine/avionics after landing! 😊

Our experience seems very similar. I have had MSFS via Gamepass, and hadn't used it in a while, but reinstalled it just before SU5. I only really fly GA other than the occasional short hop in a jet, so I may just not have flown enough to notice any issues with the planes. I mostly fly the bonanza and 150/172. But so far it's been crash free and smooth as silk. I do notice the scenery loading sometimes, not all the time though.

But yes, the logbook popping in is annoying. Like being asked if I'm done yet. "No, no I'm not."
