August 8, 20214 yr @Noel, I could be wrong, but if I remember how it was when LM/P3D introduced DX-12, VRAM got much more important compared to DX-11. There were a lot of CTDs when we came too close to the VRAM limits. Not sure if VRAM usage with DX-12 increased, but I believe it did. August 9, 20214 yr Author There seems to be a lot of VRAM headroom if you're using straight Ultra in 1.18.15.0. In fact to me it seems like there might be a realtime optimizer tuned to a maximum amount of VRAM of about 10gb + some of that as SysRAM, up to 6Gb for non-GPU functions (i.e., Xbox Series X), wherein it culls something somewhere, presumably in the peripheral views. What I see if about 15Gb-16Gb in use of combined VRAM & SysRAM on my PC w/ MSFS at all ultra plus fast glass cockpit and 8x SSAA. WIth SU4 on back it would have been around 25Gb. It's possible to get there greater LOD and then increasing Render Scaling. Whether or not those are worth it I'm not sure as I can't do it yet.
