Cannot get the hotfix from the store? Possible solution

Featured Replies

So I had the darndest time getting the ms store to update to 1.18.15.0. I had to install an xbox app (in addition to the xbox game bar and xbox console companion apps that I had from way before). After installing this new xbox app, I could go back to the MS store, click "get updates", and the sim would finally update. See details in this thread here:

Yup. I had to do that dance too, restarting the PC (twice) and opening an closing the MS store window gawd knows how many times before it eventually woke up and smelled the coffee. Moreover, it took ages for the small MS store patch to download eventually anyway, as it always does since they apparently have a donkey on a treadmill powering their server for that stuff.

This is really my only gripe with MSFS; the patching process is needlessly convoluted.

certamente! had the same problem. even the free MS Photo app got stuck during the automatic update process from their store. I attribute this rigorous procedure to Microsofts strong copy protection scheme as their store is like a Fort Knox, must never be cracked.

AMD 7800X3D, Windows 11, Gigabyte X670 AORUS Elite AX Motherboard, 64GB DDR5 G.SKILL Trident Z5 NEO RGB (AMD Expo), RTX 4090,  Samsung 980 PRO M.2 NVMe SSD 2 TB PCIe 4.0, Samsung 980 PRO M.2 NVMe SSD 1 TB PCIe 4.0, 4K resolution 50" TV @60Hz, VR: Pimax Crystal Light + HP Reverb G2 @ 90 Hz, Honeycomb Bravo Throttle Quadrant, be quiet 1000W PSU, Noctua NH-U12S chromax.black air cooler.

60-130 fps. no CPU overclocking.

very nice.

I tapped on the Microsoft Flight Simulator app in the provided list at the Microsoft Store when no update appeared in the usual way

Lo and behold it started to update in another window

Almost looked it was reinstalling the sim but no

Very odd

Any other way ends up in reinstalls of the sim as you hunt about looking for the update which you have to install or sim won’t load

So have 2 update pathways now!

If the first one won’t work the second one might!

My solution was logging out of my XBOX Account in the XBOX App and log in again.

Then checked updates in MS Store and it started
