Doing a little homework about your plane I found your installation unusual. I simply drop my unzipped addons in SteamLibrary\Community. Then the sim creates some obscure files in Roaming\Packages, not in the other Community which is empty but in ad hoc folders for each aircraft. Care to comment ?

Copy the contents of the ZIP file to your community folder. The default locations are

Windows Store: C:\Users\[YOUR USERNAME]\AppData\Local\Packages\Microsoft.FlightSimulator_[RANDOM LETTERS]\LocalCache\Packages\Community

Steam:
C:\Users\[YOUR USERNAME]\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft Flight Simulator\Packages\Community
Or
C:\Users\[YOUR USERNAME]\AppData\Local\Packages\Microsoft.FlightDashboard_[RANDOM LETTERS]\LocalCache\Packages\Community

No idea really. Is it your first post SU5 plane? Maybe its a new thing introduced for some reasons. We used the original way and the one recommended by the sdk to compile it.

I have not bought it yet. I do my "pre-buy". I have  the Corsair, Spit and DC-6 and none of them use your procedure.

No idea about steam but that has been the standard generic install procedure for the MS version since the game came out.

As I never had any of the installation problems with Steam (unzipping into SteamLibrary\Community) many seem to have with the MS store , I will continue to hold to the old way 😉.

Yes indeed I quoted your manual found at Orbx 😃.

This is an intriguing question. The files with some obscure name I referred to upthread, which are in roaming/packages, are, all thing considered, certainly symbolic links to my SteamLibrary. So your instructions are not wrong if disconcerting for me.

I have never seen such a convoluted architecture in any game or sim. As the French saying goes,  pourquoi faire simple quand on peut faire compliqué.

To be honest i have no clue about anything steam related 😄 C'est un jeu francais apres tout!

The flying stork was famous as France's great ace Guynemer's squadron emblem. Their Nieuport 17's being called the silver hawk.

The most famous emblem on wwi planes for Americans was probably The Hat in the Ring (e.g. Eddie Richenbacker the famous Indy 500 racer and combat ace). This is a spad, but the American squadrons' other common plane was the Nieuport 27.
