Confused about installation paths

Featured Replies

Hi,

I have the steam version and I installed the game to F:\MSFS 2020 (138 gb). My Package folder is at E:\HDD Games\Community.

But I am confused, because I have also a folder at C:\Users\user\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft Flight Simulator with 17gb. Can I move this folder to another installation path?

Nope. This folder contains the core of the sim and can't be moved AFAIK.

Are you sure the 17 GB is actually on the C drive?  On mine, that folder contains a few work files (only), 178 bytes.

What specifically is in the 17 GB.. and could it be a link to F?

I'm using steam the  C:\Users\user\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft Flight Simulator  of my installation is about 69 MB's and it is mostly .cfg files.

My steam install is F:\MSFS2020, it is the steam library folder with the actual program.

There are two very big files called MANUAELCACHE.ccc and ROLLINGCACHE.ccc

I think, I've found the answer because of your question 🙂 Thank's a lot!

By default, they go where you found them.

But, you do have the option of specifying your own path when creating those caches. So, if you don't want them where they currently are, start MSFS and go to Options -> Data. Delete both of the current caches and recreate them, this time specifying the path where you want them to be stored.

After doing that, you may have to go back to the old location and manually delete the old cache files.
