Avionics have suddenly started to turn off! Any ideas?

Featured Replies

Hi All,

So today my avionics have just suddenly started to switch themselves off mid flight!  I can't turn them back on.  I know this was an issue some time ago but had anyone experienced this recently or have an ideas on a fix?

Thanks very much in advance.

Dan

It happens with PMDG's DC6  auto pilot  also sometimes the flaps will not work,

A good place to find a solution would be the PMDG  DC6 forum.

Which aircraft?

Hi,

It's happened with every aircraft I've tried to fly today (152, 172, Kingair, Virus) downloaded the HC135 helicopter last night but I have since removed this from the community folder to see if this caused the issue but it's still happening.

Anu guidance is appreciated.

Thanks,

Dan

See if you have anything assigned to avionics master. Make sure you check all controllers.

Didn't think of that.  I'll try that and see if it helps.  Thanks very much sir

Thank you I found the solution for the flaps and another problem, engine 1 shutting down, you have to check the feathering button in case it gets accidently pushed, still having occasional problems with the navigation, the plane when flying on GPS wants to fly back to the take off airport.

I think this may be another sim issue that is being worked on, as I hear a few people mention the 'back course' issue that sounds similar to this.

Rob (but call me Bob or Rob, I don't mind).

I like to trick airline passengers into thinking I have my own swimming pool in my back yard by painting a large blue rectangle on my patio.

Thank you, yes it does happen on other planes as well. I have taken to flying VOR to VOR, which I quite enjoy doing anyway, I dont load a flight plan, I look at the map, find the necessary VOR stations then take off from the departure airport and follow them to the destination I want. (the old fashioned way, lol.)

Feathering button did probably not get pushed  You applied too much power taxiing onto the runway after auto feather was armed, and then reducing it before takeoff. Keep manifold pressure below about 25 when taxiing out prior to takeoff.

Thank you, that is what I must have been doing, because I dont remember ever going near the feathering button.

With the King Air, if you leave the ignition on start, it will drain your battery and cause a loss of power to avionics, even when the generator is on, usually happens right during or after take off depending on taxi time.

If you really apply power taxiing out, well over 30 MP, sometimes all 4 engines will autofeather. I use just enough power to get the DC6 to start rolling, usually under 15MP, and never have that problem of autofeather tripping.
