How often do sim addons tend to go on sale?

Recommended Posts

More than Christmas, you can check for Black Friday deals (the day after Thanksgiving). The best deals are found there. Other usual times would be St. Valentine's (why... if you're busy with the wife/GF hehehe) and maybe US or developer's country independence day. This year there were also some deals during Chinese New Year.

Yes, Black Friday and near Christmas are usually some of the most active sales times, but often you just have to get lucky and check this thread often, like do daily (I admit it, I'm a cheapskate)! 🙂

In terms of aircraft devs...

PMDG - Maybe once per year.
QualityWings - A few times per year.
Majestic Q400 - Once or twice per year.
FSLabs - Never.
FlyTheMaddog - Never.

Although the above is just for P3D. I doubt any of them will run sales on newly-released products for MSFS, if and when they support it.

Thanks for the summary, @RoDuSu, very complete. however, allow me to make some remarks and additions:

- QW: actually I've never seen a sale from them since 2007 at least. But, I've seen that, as the product grows old, they start reducing prices. I remember seeing the 146 launched at $48, then reduced to $36 and now it's $20. Something similar happened with the 757, but I can´t remember the original price. For the 787 happened the opposite, it was launched at $70, but then increased to $80 after the 787-10 was released.
- PMDG: until 2019, they never offered any deals IIRC. However, when hell froze over (sorry, when the COVID-19 lockdowns began), they did a one-off sale in April/2020, and then in the 1st week of August (both 2020 and 2021) for their birthday.
- Majestic Q400: once a year, around Black Friday.
- Orbx: they tend to be more generous. Maybe 3-4 deals a year, Black Friday included.
- FSUIPC: never. But they give discounts for owners of elegible previous versions.
- FlyTheMaddog: the last time they offered a deal was back in 2015 for the Maddog2010. Now they offer no discounts at all, but if you do it carefully (and if you care), you can get all FSX+P3Dv4+P3Dv5 versions for the cost of the P3Dv5 version only.
