In the aircraft model it will be needed to define the seat locations (3d position) and their seat numbers. Then during flight loading XP must intelligently add the passenger models to their seats according to flight configuration screen. XP should let passenger models be defined such that it can be customized per region. So for instance a flight from a small airport will draw mostly native passengers but international flights will be more mixed.

If you want a full blown AI charachters flow that will also board your plane from any airport (scenery) to specific seats on your plane your expectations for what can be done is too high, not even GTA V can do much more than speech and reactions for their AI.

But for all of the other parts, like "regional" charachters, FMOD related to a specific charachter (i.e. a baby crying), announcements in airports etc...lots of immerssion, there are no major limiting factors, definitly not expecting it from LR to do that rather 3rd party's getting more creative with what Xplane12 tools provide.

LOL having passengers in a sim is not a big ask in 2021. MSFS can already have passengers in some aircraft.  Your expectations may be exceeding low.  The technology is very feasible for a team of competent developers.

Actually it isn't. Without vertex animation in X-Plane, this  feature is dead in the water for even plausible looking characters.

That's an XP engine technology issue.  Problems with missing technology/features in X Plane would need to be addressed. And should have by now. Vulkan port took forever.  Passengers use case is nothing. Other companies have solved real time ray tracing and AI problems you think passengers is too difficult. Total crack up.

I think you're being a bit "overly" in this topic. I gave a simple reason it's not possible in XP currently. That is all.

Even if I were to agree on some of your points (which I do actually). There are other roadblocks and realities that may not make this feasible for Laminar and third-party devs immediately.  That is a topic for critically-minded people that I simply do not even wish to deep-dive in (given this forum has an infamous reputation for derailing topics :D)

But having spoken to several of my "X-Plane collegaues", I think everyone and their mother is excited to see potential future technology, and I personally would love to see a GSX-esque plugin in X-Plane

To steer this topic back on track, this does look like a cracking development. May have to try it out as I'm currently enjoying zipping around the UK 😄

Yes we can agree. X Plane engine is in dire need of an overhaul. Year 2021 and with (very) old school rudimentary animations. That's why when they make a copilot like Lynda or the excellent freeware XAnimCopilot the result looks like a robot.

Read my comment again and then steer back to what *you* wanted.

You want a full blown simulation of passenegers in airports waiting for specific flights, boarding to a specific seat, then taking the *same* passengers with you to a destenation x, drop them at the destenation and all in a seamless and scheduled manner. So as I said, not even GTA V can do that.

There is difference between this, and just scatter around 3d charachters with animations and FMOD in your plane/scenery, THIS CAN be done.

What you want has nothing to do with Xplane's engine, it is not feasible to do in today's hardware simple as that, you are asking for a worldwide passenegers simulation, so LOL you, not me.

Just to pin-point, do those *same* passenegers park their car, pick up their bags, go to the terminal for checkin, eat some food in the duty free and then board your flight, then at the destantion you drop them? NO.

A huge difference between this above, to just placing 3d meshes inside your plane, if you want 3d charchters with FMOD this will be possible in v12, but not to simulate their entire life yeah? Be realistic here.

I only described the simplest case of passengers appearing after the flight loading phase. Regardless, everything you mentioned is not rocket science by todays standards.  Here is a low budget Bus sim with moving, animated passengers boarding onto the bus, walking down the aisle and sitting in their seats  😲

I already said, there is nothing preventing anyone to add 3d charachters to his airplane or scenery even NOW, you can even make them per region, in fact this is one of the first things I experminted with in Xplane and it is possible and really easy to do (once you figure out how Xplane's system work). Sounds and better animation are v12 improvements pending.

As for your bus simulator, there are many limiting factors in flight simulation (as a first, a global scenery) to make them entirly different from a bus simulator. You are obviously just vocaly shooting ideas of a nice thing you saw in another game, facts are facts it is not possible yet to create a global simulation of a "day in a life of passengers" like you asked for in a flight simulator, if you are so eager, give it a try yourself.

I think you have skipped my other comments, as I was discussing the passengers being entered on the Flight Config screen and then XP automatically loading them into seats intelligently according to region and flight types. I don't want to takeoff in a small plane in Japan and see it loaded with a bunch of drunk Germans!
