Where is LFOT Val de Loire Airport?

Featured Replies

LFOT airport near the French city of Tours does not seem to be in MSFS2020. It is a popular destination served by Ryan Air from London Stansted. It seems surprising that this airport is not in the simulator when every other French city with airline service is in the sim, as well as hundreds of smaller airfields.

My system specs: Intel [email protected] - 5.2 GHz, NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3080, 32GB  DDR4  RAMNoctua NH-D15 CPU Cooler,1TB Seagate SSD, 4TB Seagate HD, Windows 10, Asus 32 inch monitor, Saitek Yoke, Throttle Quadrant, Rudder Pedals and Trim Wheel     Sims: MSFS2020      Preferred Aircraft  Black Square Bonanza, and Baron, A2A Comanche, PMDG DC-6, Red Wing L1049

Like so many other airports that are partly used by the military it fell victim to censorship in Bing and is completely blurred in the base aerial image.

Therefore it is not depicted in the sim.

I wonder in how many cases this is prematurely done by Microsoft. In Germany for example where Bing does the same, the military said, that at no place in time did they demand aerial images of their facilities to be blurred. And yet Bing did it all over the place. Not just Military Bases, but also all installations within cities that are tied to the military are blurred in the images and as a result you will find default texture patches littered all over the place.

In France the same happened, however Google does the same with the images there. So I guess the french military did in fact ask to make their facilities to be made unrecognizable in aerial images.

Side note, French Nuclear power plants are also blurred in Bing and Google

I use Avliasoft EFB and one feature I love, is you can insert the airport call sign, and it instantly tells you if it is in MSFS 2020 or not. I use this when I plan a VA flight, and it keeps me from arriving somewhere where an airport doesn't exist. There are a bunch of French Airports that are not in MSFS, but they are shown in Skyvector and Simbrief.

I may be mistaken, but I think LFOT was included in P3D and FSX. Perhaps the military side of the airport was not included.
