Can Addons Linker Fix CTD's? - Possibly!

Does the modellib.bgl thing still cause issues? I know the MaterialLibs issue will definitely cause CTDs but I don't think I've ever encountered an issue stemming from the modellib.bgl being the same. Any thoughts?

The only info I've read is from Rob of Working Title,

Worth noting that in some instances liveries can cause CTD's or massive FPS loss,   https://forum.pmdg.com/forum/main-forum/pmdg-paint-hangar/138482-04jul21-notam-for-painters-not-to-use-isairtraffic-1-flag#post138482

[04JUL21] NOTAM for Painters not to use isAirTraffic=1 flag

All,

It was brought to our attention that there are 3rd party repaints for the MSFS DC6 that have the isAirTraffic flag set to 1 in the aircarft.cfg.

This needs to be set to 0 otherwise the livery can cause CTD or massive FPS loss to users if it spawns as an AI or Parked plane. Please make sure you have this set to 0 on all your repaints.

From MSFS SDK "Setting the isAirTraffic flag to TRUE (1) allows the game to use that variation as a parked (grounded) passive aircraft, and potentially as a part of the "Real Online" air traffic. If a plane variation is marked as isAirTraffic, it should be an optimized variation with a lower level of detail, and therefore it should also be marked as "isUserSelectable=0"."

Hrmm, so reading the linked thread, I saw the following - https://forums.flightsimulator.com/t/scenery-creators-please-move-or-rename-your-modellib-bgl/307563/69

So with Sim Update 5.

If you export your scenery and rename the modellib.BGL none of your model assets will load in.

You may want to test this on your end if this same result happens. If this happens, change it back to ‘modellib.’

Unfortunately, I saw that after I ran the cleanup utility for both modelib and materialslib.  And I didn't save the logfile because I assumed it'd be saved somewhere...

So anyone know if we might accidentally be nuking a bunch of sceneries by doing this?

Well...... All I can see/say is I have no ill effects.

I'm gonna assume that if this was causing any havok out there, we would have heard about it by now, probably to the point where the option would have been removed by this late date.

I really hope that's the case as I have a lot of addons that I've renamed the materials and modelslib. Sigh.

By the way, when you make changes, a backup Json file is created in the addons linker folder of that particular scenery, and that is done for each changed scenery.

I haven't had any ill effects so far. I'll keep an eye out.
