I will wait for the next generation of Nvidia cards and upgrade to 4K at the same time.

My plan as well .. I Think ill be fine with my current GPU for now and focus my next upgrade on the CPU with the layered Vcache if it proves to improve performance in the sim.

I just built a 5600x/3060Ti based system for my Little brother in Jamaica so i think we probably will be upgrading in a hand me down fashion. As soon as new stuff comes out ill tell him to sell his parts locally and ill use the proceeds that he gets from the sale as part of the funds to get the latest part and send him my CPU/GPU as upgrades since we are on the same B550/AM4 Platform.

The question was more about how to not get notification after it is already too late (I've read your post 17H after you've posted), but to get notifications about future drops sufficiently in advance so that you can have the time to go to BB waiting for a coupon for example!

Fair question! In my case it was sheer luck…I was researching components for a new rig on YouTube and the algorithm kept suggesting videos on the potential drop. Then I checked the BB blog (the link I posted earlier) which had the date. I’d suggest just keeping an eye out there if you’re in the market for a deal.

I’m running 4K on my new rig and can confirm it is absolute butter, but that’s fair if you can wait.

Nope...pretty surprised myself! Walked in and picked up a token...they had the whole range lined up behind the cash. Now I do live in the frozen tundra of Victoria, so not really representative of any real population center...

I wasn’t quite as lucky as you Dylan as I had to wait in line for about 11 hours.  Of course Indianapolis is a little more populated than the frozen tundra of Victoria😀

My first choice was the 3090, but those were snapped up quickly. I was about the 60th person in line arriving at 830pm (tickets handed out at 730am) but I did get my second choice in the 3080ti founders edition.  At the August Best Buy drop, this south side Indianapolis location had some 3090’s and 3060’s left unclaimed and a few lucky people just walked in after they opened up and bought them.

It seemed as though the majority of people in line were there to buy and resell from everyone I spoke to.  I overheard a couple people who were buying cards for mining.  I think I was the only person there (at least it sure seemed that way) buying a card to build a computer.

I haven’t flown in nearly 6 years and I’ve been itching to get back to the skies again since the new sim was released.  In 2019 we had planned to move in 2021 to get closer to work. So we sold the house, moved away from the sticks where an unlimited cellphone plan with hotspot was our only means of internet and now have a blazing fast 500Mbps fiber connection.

I really didn’t want to camp out all night, but there was no way I was going to pay scalper double n triple prices for a video card.  I read up on what the best approach would be, discovering the BB drops at the end of each month at select stores, so I took the plunge.

Yup, I was a happy camper…Let the build begin😎
