Suggest you use the Addons Linker app.. much easier.

Looked at the program and does look "involved" and quite a bit overkill IMHO.  But thanks for the suggestion.

What I see in my WP System are two files...one of which is inaccessible

  • S-1-5-21-1989554755-1292552888-95729151  (dated 7-20-2020).  I can open this one but no file has a Community folder with all the MSFS planes, or anything)
  • Same number as above (dated 10-6-2021)  I probably created that one 2 days ago when I tried to reinstall  MSFS.  I can't access that one.

Usually I can figure things out, but this one has me stumped.

Please don't feel it necessary to keep responding to me on this problem.  I don't want to waste your valuable time.

Thanks.

I HAVE SOLVED THIS PERPLEXING PROBLEM.    It seems that the two files, OFFICIAL and COMMUNITY deep within disc C under APP Data and Flight Simulation work.  If I put planes into OFFICIAL folder and scenery into COMMUNITY folder it all seems to work in the sim. I was thrown back by the fact that the Community folder was not on the SSD that I designated for this install.

I have to go a LONG way to get to these 2 folders to put things into them, and I will try  to figure out a way to make that trip shorter.  However, MSFS is working well after I put a Bonanza with many liveries into the Official folder and a great scenery for my home airport (KABE) into the Community folder.

I thank you all, and Bert for staying with me on this one.  I guess I won't be buying the Steam version of the sim since I'm back in business.  I was hoping I could go to my dedicated drive to access the folders that I needed, but this works, so I'm happy.

Thanks again, guys.

Stan - simplest way is to create a shortcut to the folder. The way I do it is navigate to the folder, click once in the address bar to get the full path highlighted - right click the path and select copy. Now go to your desktop, right click and select NEW/Shortcut - paste the path name in the location box and go from there.

Happy you have it working... however, you should not be putting anything into the Official folder.  All addons should go into the Community folder.

Secondly, you may be thinking that it is going on the C drive, because of the navigation, but trust me, it is going onto your designated drive.

The Bonanza with all its liveries didn't work in the Community folder.  But it does work with all the airplanes in the Official folder.  I will try again, but that's what I found to work.

Not a good idea to tinker with the Official folder... you might regret it next time there is an update.

I should have known better than to doubt your wisdom, Bert.  I took your advice and moved the Bonanza out of the OFFICIAL folder, and put it into the Community folder.  Voila!  It does work.  I promise to stay away from the OFFICIAL folder.

Thanks again...I have learned to trust you over the years.  If I come to Canada again, I have to buy you a burger and a cold Canadian beer!
